*God, omnipresent, fully aware of what just happened:* Cain, where's the sheepkeeper?
*Cain:* I'm not a brokeeper haha get it
It's even worse. He made it *rhyme.*
"השומר אחי אנוכי?"
Hebrew is one of those languages that I *wish* I could read, but I have no desire to *learn* to read...
Also how close is this to Aramaic and wouldn't that have been the original text of the Torah/Tanakh?
Aramaic was the *lingua franca* of the time, so while a lot of Jewish people at the time spoke both, [not all did](https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=2+Kings+18%3A26&version=NASB).
The languages are close enough that a person who understands one language could pick up like 50% of what is said is the other.
God pulled one of those "I'm asking you a question I know the answer to just to see if you'd lie to me" moves
He even pulled the "oh really? Then explain this" thing on him, like as soon as Cain lied to Him He said "really? You don't know where he is? Then why can I hear his blood crying out from the ground?"
Cain looked at the face of god and was unimpressed
“Where are your parents?”
