I appreciate when the red flags are announced up front

AlyBSoFly25

😂😂.. at least they used the right "you're"?

Stuart8480

I’m more impressed by the correct “stationary”

Ganuar1

She did use geocentric wrong though...

AIMpb

Earth is 100% geocentric

Ganuar1

Wow! Now that I think about it that is the only true thing on her profile.

prateek_tandon

**Her**: Earth is flat. **Also her**: Nasa has never been past low earth ***orbit***.

Excal2

If the Earth is flat you can't orbit it, right?

prateek_tandon

Yes.

LiteralPhilosopher

I think you could ... you'd just end up going "underneath" it in most orbits. There would be exactly one where you could go around the outside, right at the level of the disc, and never actually see the back.

Excal2

I wonder if there's a whole other Earth on the other side lol. Appreciate the reply.

LiteralPhilosopher

What if Earth-1 is on the other side ... and ***we're*** on the back? 😮

GroupSolipcism

It’s narnia

daveypee

Nope, there’s double sided tape

DeepThroatALoadedGun

I'd like to imagine earth is like Two-Face's coin, both sides are the same except one of them is *really* fucked up. I think we all know which side we're on

thealmightyzfactor

No, because in these insane theories, gravity is caused by the earth accelerating upwards at 9.8m/s^2. Therefore, if you went under the flat earth, there wouldn't be gravity pulling you "up" (towards the earth) to maintain an orbit, unlike how gravity is always pulling you towards the earth IRL. Same if you went to the edge, now the 'gravity acceleration' is pointing down, but you need it to point to the center at all times for an orbit to work. You'd have to constantly fire rockets to mimic the earth acceleration for that to work.

Tactical_Tubgoat

Upwards toward what and from what? My brain hurts now.

confused_smut_author

It can also work if the ~~Ringworld~~ flat Earth is made of ~~scrith~~ some kind of ultradense material, though in that case you need a lot of sacrificial material at the edges so that the radial component of gravity as you travel outward from the center is small enough for the layperson not to notice unless they travel to the Far Lands, which are not acknowledged on any maps by order of Big Cartography. Big Science has of course measured this effect, but they're holding it back because it debunks their round Earth dogma. An orbit around such a disk-shaped mass is of course possible. However, one has to wonder what "low orbit" would mean in this context.

NybbleM3

If it's flat then how come we haven't seen underneath it yet?

prateek_tandon

Cuz turtles are invisible Jim!

MaXimillion_Zero

It's also stationary, if you use it as the reference point.

Yellowsunflowerlover

I was under the impression it is geocentric.

[deleted]

[удалено]

aarontbarksdale

I'm by no means a flat earther...but in this case geocentric might be correct. Since they beleive that the sun moves around the face of the earth in a set "orbit" that is set precisely some distance from the center of the earth, that is what they beleive to be geocentric. But the problem with the flat earth theory is it completely negates the possibility of the HOLLOW EARTH theory, which is much more plausible.

MatuChef

Brave attempt 🥳😅 but hey, you can sell them any bullshit and get laid so like what’s the problem. Say you’re the president of anti-moon society and make millions of dollars to disprove the theory that moon has gravity, and BANG they naked

Excal2

This is when that old adage "never stick your dick in crazy" should be applied.

SnooPredictions3113

I'm the president of the Global Flat Earth Society

Adept-Nature5419

Hahahahaha

zombie-narwhals

It's too well put together for them to actually believe this stuff

AlyBSoFly25

Right? Like you can use perfect grammar, spelling, and semantics but still believe this shit?.. wild.

Adventurous-Bed8426

Ehh sometimes its an educated and paranoid person 🤣

TA-152

Came to mention that but you got it covered 👍

SnappleCapp

How did NASA get into lower earth orbit around a flat planet? 🤔 Lol I'm confused

Parlourderoyale

stupid people contradict themselves

FuckMotherGothel

The flat earth society has members all around the globe.

Lo-siento-juan

It's so funny that flat earth was started as satire by very clever people who enjoyed joking about the more philosophical aspects of rationalist dogma by demonstrating convoluted mathematical proofs that a spherical earth is impossible - similar to the oft repeated notion that science says bees can't fly. I often wonder what the original members who were in on the joke think about how things turned out.

bobs_monkey

> I often wonder what the original members who were in on the joke think about how things turned out. Probably facepalming so hard they look like a shih tzu

bravoromeokilo

And the incel movement was started by a woman..

emeraldfaye

Who is apparently very nice and just wanted a place for support for romantically unsuccessful people.

bravoromeokilo

Exactly. There’s a great episode of the podcast Reply All about this for anyone else interested.

The-Berzerker

> Flat earth was started as satire I think that‘s just an urban myth

Cadarrese

Good one! 😂

Sadly it’s true.

I think OP was saying that they said the “earth” is geocentric, not the universe. Which would mean the earth is the center of the earth?

[deleted]

actually the earth doesn't orbit around the center of the earth. it orbits around the barycenter of the earth-moon system. the moon has enough mass relative to the earth that the barycenter of the earth-moon system is roughly in the upper mantle https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7hMfCCqSdFc

AWildWilson

Hah so they actually did get that wrong too then

helium_farts

I, for one, am shocked she struggles with math.

FrozenBologna

61 million is correct (with a rounding error) for 2020. 22.6 billion divided by 365 is 61.9 million

nolanhoff

What do you mean? Orbiting along a flat plane is really easy…

MjrMalarky

Also they said the earth is both stationary AND geocentric…. So the earth revolves around the earth, but also doesn’t move? And yet NASA was able to orbit the stationary earth… so they agree small things in space IE space shuttles orbit big things IE earth? TIL I’m asleep lol

Tsorovar

The Earth is at the centre of the Earth. I see no problem there

hockeypeg18

hmm yes the earth here is made out of earth

1Eternallylost

And you can orbit a flat plane.

marvinrabbit

Well, 'geocentric' means the Earth is at the center, as opposed to 'heliocentric' which means the sun is at the center. But the orbiting a flat object thing could only be done with the help of evil wizards.

subpargalois

If one were to say "the solar system is geocentric" that would mean the earth is at it's center. If we were to try to make that precise, I would say that it means that the solar system's center of mass lies somewhere within the earth at all times. So I'm pretty sure that taken literally, "the earth is geocentric" would mean that the earth's center of mass lies within the earth at all times. Which is kinda fuckin intuitively obvious unless the earth is some weird concave shape.

LongForgottenToast

Since it's flat that means there's a reverse side that the orbit would go over. That's the real conspiracy, what's Nasa hiding on the back side of the earth?

SnappleCapp

Are you telling me that Stranger Things is based on fact!? The Upside Down is real! Start spreading the word!

Thrawn89

Halo orbit is a thing and while the earth is flat, the sky is a dome (to these people). So they probably think it just does circles in the dome.

SnappleCapp

True, but as far as I know you can't halo orbit in low orbit above earth. You need a second gravitational force stopping you from being pulled back into the ground. Time to make a flat earth mod for Kerbal Space Program and try to orbit it LOL 🤣

Thrawn89

Correct, and the earth isn't flat either. I doubt they'd have any understanding of real orbital mechanics. You'd need a KSP mod that introduces 3 body physics, halo orbits cannot be achieved without Lagrange points, which KSP has no concept of.

DefiantLemur

These people have no idea how any of that works. They probably think physics works differently then it does

XxRocky88xX

They think physics works how they want it to work regardless of how it actually does. All the laws of physics that contradict what they believe are made up lies by the government, just like literally every other fact that goes against what they believe

anotherspookygh0st

“Willful ignorance is the real pandemic” Part of me wants the whole thing to be a well written satirical piece.

tfrules

Yeah, admitting that nasa got into orbit whilst saying the earth is flat is such an outrageously obvious contradiction that this just has to be satire, right?

TheClincher7

We flat earthers are all around the globe.

SpaceJesusIsHere

UristMcHammer

Flat earthers regularly contradict themselves frequently, often within the same train of thought. So unless it's all satire it's normal.

ReallyBigRocks

most people have no concept of what "orbit" means. To the average person, things in space may as well just be floating there like ships in Star Wars

-Swade-

I’ll choose to believe it’s a clever attempt to catfish nut jobs. So our John Q. Anon swipes right and suddenly a wonderful girl wants to talk to them about politics. “Oh were you in DC on Jan 6th? Wow I wish I was there! Do you have any pictures? Did you get into any trouble?😉” And the FBI evidence folder grows. I’m wrong of course but I can dream.

BigDadNads420

I can't even imagine how easy it would be to rake in cash with a fake tinder profile of a trump supporting woman.

RSBennett

It’s got everything, this has to be fake right?

ncann123

When I see something so absurd that just keeps going I inevitably think it's satire. Maybe because I've spent too much time on reddit.

Rajax32

Honestly, I would do it just to see how far that rabbit hole goes. I wouldn't even call them crazy since I could miss the good stuff.

Dudeness52

Hell yes! I just want to pick this person's brain. Find out what made them this way, if their parents are just as crazy, which service they attend at Westboro Baptist, you know, just really find out the good stuff.

jswp5

Oh shit, you could make up your own conspiracies that differ juuuust slightly to argue with them and see how they defend their views

Tom_Foolery1993

Lmao, “the earth isn’t flat, it’s sunken. If you pour water on a flat table, it falls off the side. We still have oceans, so obviously the earth is bowl shaped not flat” Is what I would say xD

GodEmprahBidoof

Daaaamn that's a very valid point And if it was a sphere it would also slide off. You might be onto something.

n1rvous

If you keep with the bowl theory, eventually you get hollow earth theory. Which comes back around to a spherical shape. Man, what a concept.

Easilycrazyhat

I feel like we're just discussing a hypersphere now.

DemureCynosure

That's exactly the kind of thing that the people who live in the [Hollow Earth](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hollow_Earth) want you to think. Wake up, sheeple. You're sleeping.

momoneymocats1

Tf is SM-102

detethered

With some research, I found that it's basically a lipid used with other lipids to make up lipid nanoparticles. Apparently the danger with SM-102 that people such as the person in the post is talking about is actually for chloroform and not SM-102 itself.

productivProcrastin8

But chloroform was an extremely useful substance for both human and animal medicine. Aside from penicillin, it was probably the most influential substance in the development of modern medical treatment, as any surgical procedure that was more complex than hacking off limbs or gouging out fragments from wounds would be impossible; and even the two formerly mentioned procedures would very likely kill the patient from shock.

[deleted]

I remember it used to be aluminum or mercury that they were scared of. I grew up in a place where these people roam/are from. Those metals are used as an adjuvent for the vaccine, and the dose is less than you would get from eating a whole Tuna.

AirStoned

In fairness, a whole tuna is freaking massive, and if it's that much at the very least pregnant women shouldn't have it

[deleted]

I'm sorry, my dog got sprayed by a skunk at like 4 am and my brain is already fried. I got lost in my comparison, but I'd say more like a bite of fish. People are slaying Blue Fin right now so I've been seeing pictures thinking about them. Tuna has higher levels of mercury than most fish, which is also what I brought it up. You should probably just disregard anything I say today

AirStoned

Haha no worries!! I'm not an anti vaxxer by any means but a whole tuna is probably quite a lot of mercury. But I trust scientists even when I don't trust the government.

[deleted]

I am a scientist, which is why it's bad. I'm a biologist/chemist, so, like, I know a lot about this stuff. Even scientists can say stupid shit when they are sleep deprived.

nikomo

These lipid nanoparticles are relatively recent tech, but they've had a lot of research put into them, the medical field is a bit overcautious nowadays, what with all of the shit that has happened in the past. They're basically like OSHA, every measure has a story behind it. My understanding of these nanoparticles is that they're the reason why the dosage can be so low as it is. The mRNA is slowly released into your system, so you get continuous production of the spike protein, instead of one big "spike" of them. Means it takes a few days until the mRNA is out of your system, instead of hours. I'm not an expert in the field, so I don't know if mRNA vaccines would have even been an option if this tech hadn't been developed over years of research.

bmshklkh

[This](https://www.reuters.com/article/factcheck-sm102-moderna-idUSL2N2NE20S) seems like a helpful summary of what they read on social media vs actual sources of info. In short: it's like blaming cigarette *paper* for causing lung cancer, ignoring the actual contents of the cigarette.

Pirate_Pete1312

A little looking and I found [this](https://www.caymanchem.com/product/33474/sm-102) website that sells it, with a warning at the bottom that says "This product is not for human or veterinary use.". I think our man here has got this warning (which is used because the company isn't licensed to sell pharmaceuticals) confused a hazard warning. If only he'd dug slightly deeper, because when you click on the companies statement about this warning they explicitly state that there are no listed hazards associated with SM-102

Leggoman31

The name is literally "SM-102 in chloroform." I basically read SDS's for a living so I know they can get overwhelming, but section 3 literally says "dangerous components - chloroform" then right below it "other ingredients - SM-102." I seriously don't understand how someone can be so passionate about something but so, as this tinder person says, willfully ignorant. You don't even need 5 minutes to read the whole thing line by line.

AquaticJoe

“I have no idea why im not getting Likes”

If it’s a she, she probably is getting likes

galacticboy2009

Every QAnon uncle in the state is smashing that like button.

Xuval

Eh, if she's easy on the eye, I am sure she'll still do well on Tinder.

ZazBlammyMaTaz

It doesn’t even matter. It’s been a couple years but when I was on tinder, all of the guys I matched with clearly didn’t read my profile. It was actually annoying, and when I found out that some men just swipe everyone hoping for a match I kind of felt shitty. So I don’t use tinder anymore. If anything, this girl will have to wade thru a bunch of vaccinated fuck bois to get to her mr. right-wing-conspiracy-nut

Revolutionary_Song16

I have an ex boyfriend who would bang the shit out of her. And he called *me* crazy…

GrumpyGuss

When you gotta swipe right hundreds of times to get a match, you stop caring about reading profiles before swiping. Hell, you may even stop looking at the pictures. Just swipe right and wait for a few matches to crawl in, then decide if you want to message them or not. It's shitty, but that's online dating for ya

DegenerateShep

Don’t you love it when people tell you what they aren’t looking for rather than just saying what they are. Can’t believe this person is single.

r0botdevil

Even when their profile just talks about what they *are* looking for, that's still a giant red flag in my book. It's basically just coming out and saying that what *they* want is all that matters, and they don't feel the need to tell you anything about themselves because what you're looking for in a partner isn't important at all.

PrincessBeepBop69

Imagine actually believing all that
