Ideal weight for BUDS

Ideal weight for BUDS

jaybeco

You’re already probably already strong enough, that mile time is terrible. Timed runs need to be be 7 min or better for 4 miles in the sand. Maintain what you have and focus on running.

Jslice420

Appreciate it man🙏

[deleted]

their isn’t a perfect weight. if ur heavier ur gonna have more issues running but if ur lighter ur gonna have more issues during log PT and boats. if their was a peak efficiency body composition that NSW knew about they would be advertising the shit out of it but their isn’t one.

Jslice420

About what I was thinking. Thanks for your opinion✊

Ednizer

How fluffy can you really be at 6’1 195?

Jslice420

I’m not insanely fluffy. I just don’t have visible abs or am as vascular as I used to be. I used to be a pretty skinny dude

Ednizer

That’s too bad, I’m pretty sure it’s illegal to be a Navy SEAL unless you have a six pack

Jslice420

Imagine getting kicked out of the program because you’re a fat shit. Kills PT and swims like a dolphin but because your abs aren’t visible they drop you😂

dkw61771

you need to be working out 7 to 8 days per week

Jslice420

Sometimes I do. I like to dedicate a day or two for my wife though.

MasterChiefForReal

The Beatles copyright attorney would like a word.

Traditional-Motor-94

Really?

ReadSeparate

Yeah you gotta work out so hard that your effort ripples a hole into the fabric of time and creates an 8th day per week.

Traditional-Motor-94

I already workout 7 days a week. I’m gonna start working out 2 times per day. creating 8 days

ReadSeparate

That would be 8 sessions per week, not days per week

Traditional-Motor-94

Yeah I was joking

ChipThatPaint

Hahahahaha

Snggie

Definitely cut some body fat if you’re already very strong. It’s Unnecessary weight that weighs you down during calisthenics and runs

Jslice420

Navy seals don’t need blubber to keep warm?👀

Snggie

I’m not really sure. I’m sure it would help insulate some heat but Im not sure how worth it would be. It’s also worth noting that muscle mass is also important for regulating heat. When you were skinnier did you run cold or warm? It’s about how your body regulates heat

Jslice420

I was just joking around about the blubber. But it’s a factor I’ve thought about

liam-135

Your gonna lose it no matter what don't go in insanely lean 10-15% is ideal for most active males get your run time up though seriously looks like thats your main concern right now

Jor378

I’ve been training with some seal candidates every Sunday in Santa Monica and there’s a couple dudes around 185-195 that rip it through the sand sub 7 min pace. You should be around there imo. The seal mentor said we should be doing a good amount of soft sand runs as well.

Endure94

Chaps my ass I'm not anywhere near a decent stretch of sand to get those runs in. Guess it'll be OJT.

Fuckery256

No offense but it doesnt matter how much u weigh if ur running 8 minute miles and calling that decent endurance

Vortx0

Ideal weight is specific to your body. If you can consistently crush all the times and physical challenges then that’s the best BW for you. Everyone is different so learn and study your body👍

Microbeast83

Dont focus on how much you weigh. Pay attention to how you're performing. If your runs, swims and calisthenics are on point weight means little. With that being said you want some fat on you for BUDs both for calories and warmth.....

truejawn

I don’t think there is an ideal weight or height for the teams. If you can hit the numbers and put out, that’s all that matters. Nick Norris (BUD/s class 247) is 5’6 165 and he was the class honor man. I’m guessing SEALS come in all shapes and sizes.

ChipThatPaint

Weight is fine just keep eating what you burn off and work on getting that mile down to a 6 flat and 27:30 4 mi should be just fine

aaronj5467

Just keep running more and more with an actual program that will help you progress. Don't eat too much bullshit. I will day this you need to be running and swimming more than you're lifting. You'll lose the weight naturally once you run faster and put in the miles

bschneid93

Dudes with chubby dad bods have made it through. Skinny stoner/skateboarder shits have made it through. There is no ideal weight fuck all that what matters is the weight up in the dome. Each body-weight has a disadvantage/advantage. Just be strong and be able to run/run with weight and swim. No need to psyche out about having to be 5% body fat

seinostrifer

Are you enlisting or already in the navy? I am assuming you are already in the navy? I am waiting to go MEPS, because of my 1 year of heavy weed smoking, so I am just waiting to piss clean. I am trying to go into it as a diver, and diver also go to BUDs from what I understand, I also will have to go through warrior program when I am in the DEP pool as my recruiter explained. If you are enlisting I would assume you will be doing the warrior challenge too, so 5 AM work out with a seal personnel 5 days a week while waiting to get shipped to boot.

run612

Divers dont go to BUD/s (atleast typically afaik), if thats a big deal for you, make sure you get an SO contract or you might get screwed

seinostrifer

Ahh okay thanks. My recruiter said I would be going to BUDs, but you seem to know way more than I do so, I will talk to them and see if I can get a clarification tomorrow, thanks for the info.

run612

No problem dude, hope you get it sorted out and crush it!

I don't even fully understand your comment, but okay dude. I probably won't get to breed, I guess.

johnnnnboooy

The only thing that should concern you(based off the info you provided) is that mile time.
