Hello everyone! Here's this year's list. It's mostly focused on nature, but as always, any other interpretation is welcome. We will start on December 1st. If you have any suggestions to make this more exciting and a better experience, tell me in the comments or send me a message. Also, if you can help spread the word, I would greatly appreciate it:)

Sarelm

Break days seem like such a nice addition. I wish I had thought of that for Drawtober.

Faranesque

I really felt the need last year. I hope two days is enough for avoiding burnout.

Jay_Dubs6

it’s fucked up that this is back again. it seems like I was just doing last year’s! great idea tho, thanks for making another

Faranesque

I know! Last year seems like yesterday and a decade ago at the same time. Thank you!

Sir_Parmesan

This was a great event last year, and will be this year too! I cant wait ;D

Faranesque

I’m so happy you decided to join us again! Last year was so much fun. Can’t wait to do it again!

ErebusHunter45

Excuse me, question as someone who just recently joined, does it have to be drawn or can it be text?

Kattasaurus-Rex

I second your question with an additional question, can it be mixed drawn and written?

Faranesque

Of course. It’s entirely up to you.

Faranesque

Hi! You can use any medium you like.

ErebusHunter45

Amazing, thanks for your answer

100G1

It's back!!! I can't believe it's already been a year- it feels like it ended yesterday. And coincidentally I've been starting to work in-depth on my world's natural environment these past few months, so this is just perfect. Shame I probably won't be able to participate as actively as last year due to personal stuff, but still, excited to join! (Sidenote, I'm curious about what 'ancient geography' means. Isn't all geography ancient?)

Faranesque

Yeah one year passed so fast I didn’t get to do half the things I wanted :/ but I’m glad that it’s good timing for you. About the ancient prompt, some geographical features like lakes and forests change pretty rapidly so it’s possible to have an ancient forest and a relatively younger one in the same world. Gods and magic directly affecting the geography could make that apply to slower moving parts too. I hope that made it more clear?

100G1

It did. Thanks for answering!

EndiForevah

Honestly such a good idea. If I don't forget, I'll surely participate

Faranesque

Thank you!

Only_at_Eventide

What is this?

JinxTheBunny

It's basically a calendar for prompts over the course of December. Based on the day, you'll make up some lore for your world based around it. Like on the 22nd, you'll create some kind of parasite and on the 8th, you'll talk about the climate in a region and it's effects on society. Or you can, of course, have your own interpretation.

Faranesque

Hi! This is a prompt list for every day of December, focused on worldbuilding. You create a piece each day based on that day’s prompt. It can be a piece of writing or art or a map or whatever you want. You can use this to develop your world further or create a new one. You can find last year’s posts in my profile.

Floh4

I was looking forward for this! I guess I'll have a whole lot of new lore to write, because so far I don't have a lot of answers to these prompts... It will be interesting to fill out these gaps.

Faranesque

Oh that’s perfect! Can’t wait to see your work!

vezwyx

Not having answers right away is the best part. That's the whole point of a prompt! It's a lot of fun to get the juices flowing, even if just with words like nocturnal or extinct

RedFokker57

I attempted something like this a while back but wasn't able to do much, achieved like maybe 2-3 days but afterwards I gave up. Hopefully this time I can do much better.

Faranesque

How I see it is that these lists exist to inspire and help creators create. So even if you do one day it’s a win.

grendrake

Just a quick thought; wouldn't it be better to have one of the break days on the 25th? I imagine a lot of people are going to be distracted and not have a chance to work on stuff on Christmas day.

Faranesque

I made the same mistake last year of forgetting Christmas exists :)). I don’t want to change it now since others probably saved it and I can’t edit the post. I’ll make sure to keep that in mind next year. Thank you!

WritingFrankly

The prompt for the 25th is "Hunter," so [this](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0FJU4GrXztE) might be appropriate ;)

PlaidGiant

Love this and will definitely do my best to participate. Even though in my real life I care about nature deeply, I've never really thought about nature in my world beyond extreme basics (the north is cold, rocky, and barren, while the south is more lush and vibrant) This will be good for me to flesh things out! My big question is what am I supposed to do day 1? It says natural world, but what is that supposed to mean if the next 30 days are all about building the natural world?

Faranesque

It’s basically a chance for your to lay out the basic concepts of your world and the context every other prompt exists in. Like what you said about the basics of your geography or the specific biome you’re going to work on. Or a creation story even.

PlaidGiant

Oh ok! I'm excited to start working on this! It will be nice to have more of an understanding of my world beyond the political environment! Depending on how busy my schedule is in December, I might actually try and field journal this task. Little write up about each thing, accompanied by a sketch!

Faranesque

Thats a great idea. I tried to do a similar thing but there were too many posts I wanted to read I gave up after a few days. It’s a really fun format.

MysteriousMysterium

I really like it, bit it will probably be a bit hard to apply these to the two worlds I create.

Faranesque

I know this is not very applicable for every type of world. I hope that means it’s an extra challenge and not unusable.

Spindlybits

Well I'll be posting again.

Faranesque

Great! Are you working on the same world this year?

Spindlybits

Yeah still gonna be things from Daedalus Trove.

Faranesque

Cool! Can’t wait to learn more about it!

Careless_Dreamer

I love this idea! It’ll finally give me motivation to work on the natural parts of my world, which I keep on neglecting like a dummy. I do have some agriculture ideas that make my birthday prompt easier, haha.

Faranesque

Same here. Nature has always been intimidating for me. Glad to hear that it’s helpful. Looking forward to seeing your work :)

ServoGato5020

How do I participate?

Faranesque

Throughout December , work on an aspect if your world based on each day’s prompt in any medium you want. You don’t have to do all of them it’s meant to inspire and help flesh out your world so if one prompt is doing neither feel free to skip it. You can share it on the daily posts on this subreddit or tag them with #talecember in other social media so others can see. You can see more details on the second slide.

Just_An_Enby

Ooh, this is going to be fun! I recently started a worldbuilding project, so this will definitely help!

Faranesque

That’s great! Glad you found it helpful

CptMosley

Honestly really psyched in doing this. I wanted to dig up the ones from last year to do, but this fits so much better in the DnD setting I'm working on!

Faranesque

I’m super excited too! Are you going to only work on your story or homebrew stuff too?

CptMosley

Looking at the prompts there are a lot of options for homebrewing flora and fauna. I haven't tried my hand at really homebrewing beasts or monsters yet so I'm anxious to try out.

xloony

I just saw this list and thought - damn, I missed it. But then I saw your comment and I'm happy that I'm actually on time! I tried NaNoWriMo and that didn't go too well as I kind of stopped 5 days ago (I'm still trying to get something out of it) but I'm also going to give this list a go. I am a newbie writer and I'd love to see if I can create anything other than the primary world I imagine my stories in :D

Faranesque

Sorry for the confusion. I should have mentioned the dates in the first slide. I’m glad you’ve decided to join. Hope you’ll have a better experience with this one. And don’t worry about skipping days and only doing a few. Only did five days of inktober this year myself. It can get overwhelming. Looking forward to seeing your work :)

xloony

Thank you, I'm looking forward to seeing yours as well if you're participating :) And I wasn't confused about the year I guess, I think that I didn't read the name of the "month" right and for some reason (maybe because of Nanwrimo) I thought it was November xD

Mad_Englneer

Nice, this is actually quite motivating. Had a little drop in motivation so I was eagerly waiting for this.

Faranesque

Thank you! Glad you found it helpful and motivating. That’s my main goal with these :)

DmMacniel

woohoo, I remember last years points, even though I only found time and inspiration for half of the days It really helped me get my creativity going. Love this list.

Faranesque

Thank you! Glad to hear that it’s been helpful.

soapsuds202

wow I've never heard of this! do you have to write for it or can you draw as well

HumphreyImaginarium

Either or, whichever you prefer. Or do a little of both ☺️

Faranesque

Medium of your choice :)

crazydave11

I remember this! It was responsible for some of the quirkier parts of my world last year! Time for an au naturale approach apparently!

Faranesque

I’ll take that as a compliment :)) Hope this one is as quirkifying as the last one.

DarkQuasar

I love this idea and definitely want to try it out! Maybe I'm just misunderstanding or just being thick, but what does "Ranger" mean in terms of geography?

Welpmart

You're not thick at all! You could think of it like a D&D ranger (modeled after Aragorn from LOTR), someone who is a master of the wild, or more like a park ranger, someone who manages a part of the natural world, I'd say. The connection to geography is somewhat tangential.

DarkQuasar

Thank you! I was thinking it was some kind of land/terrain type that I just wasn't understanding.

Faranesque

Yeah what I was aiming for was more of the dnd ranger type. But still, open to interpretation and I love the park ranger idea.

Faranesque

Hi! I tried to include something that could be made into a character in each part. Herbalist for flora, hunter for fauna and ranger for geography. Rangers have specific skills and abilities to survive and navigate their environment. So what the prompt is about if what those skills would be in the specific environment you’re creating. Hope that makes sense.

DarkQuasar

It does. Thank you!

azauggx202

This is sick! Definitely doing this!

Faranesque

Thank you!

KING_DARKLIME

Leaving a comment here so i dont forget- Wish I had known about this sooner, seems like a great idea.

Faranesque

This is a December challenge. There’s still two weeks until it starts. I can send you a reminder when I start posting the master posts if you want?

KING_DARKLIME

Oh, that'd be appreciated, thank you

Mergin_eqal

Well, it’s might be worth the challenge, trying out my writing prompt skill for getting better is very nice

Faranesque

Thank you. Hope you find it enjoyable :)

JovinWrites

This is awesome! What’s the protocol for posting? Single parent post with comments for each day? New post every day?

Faranesque

I’m going to make a masterpost each day so everyone can comment (to avoid clogging the subreddit and having everything in one place mostly) you can just put a link if you’re making a post or a blog

JovinWrites

Awesome mate, looking forward to this!

Rain_Moon

Sounds like a lot of fun; you can count me in! :)

Faranesque

Thank you! Excited to see your work :)

PaladinCommander

This is interesting ! Is there a way to see early years ?

Faranesque

It’s the second year we’re doing this. You can see last year’s list and posts on my profile. (There’s a typo in the main list if you want an edited version message me)

Chaladan

Glad to see this back! One of if not the best things of last year. I like the different approach, even if it might be a bit trickier to work with. I have one query, if you don't mind. What's the intended scope this year? Last time we were focused on a single culture, are we focused on a single environment this time around? Or can we focus on a wider spread of environments within our worlds? Reason I'm asking is because I can't yet see how to fine tune all of these prompts together while keeping each one interesting if the focus is limited. No problem if that is the case, of course. I'm sure I'll come up with something!

Faranesque

Hi! Thank you so much. I’m glad you are going to participate again. I enjoyed reading about your world very much last year. I don’t have a specific scope in mind. I understand that the list is a bit diverse for a small area. So, feel free to work on multiple locations. I usually think of the result of this being pieces you can put in the wiki of your world. They don’t necessarily have to be connected.

JustAnotherPenmonkey

Great prompt list!

Faranesque

Thank you!

Flaymlad

Wait, what's the "Wonder" prompt supposed to be?

GreyWyre

Natural wonders maybe? Waterfalls, lakes, mountains, coral reefs, and other nifty things.

Faranesque

I was thinking of natural wonders like GreyWyre said. Things like Aurora Borealis. But all of the prompts are open to interpretation if you have something else in mind.

Rambeechy_Keeper

Hello! I really like this prompt! I will try to do it for sure! I may not post anything (me with my notebooks result in hard time typing the same thing), but I want you to know that I will work on it, because you chose the great themes and put great work on sorting them! Brings unbelivable inspiration to me! I think before prompt start date I will do the past year's one! A nice way to say hi to upcoming year! Have a great day!

Faranesque

Hi! Thank you so much. This made me so happy. I’m glad you found it inspiring :) Last year’s list is a bit all over the place compared to this one. Please let me know which one you found more helpful if you did both.

Maybe ill add some more of you into my world this time :) Faranesque already is! He picked his character and location

Faranesque

That was one of the highlights for me last year. Can’t wait.

VoidboyDragon

i remember last year’s

Faranesque

Hope you enjoyed it. Are you going to participate this year?

VoidboyDragon

Yes!

**The Lushgardens** A large fertile land on the western shore of Ayas is known as The Lushgardens. These are massive fields for crops and animal husbandry. Every farmer is responsible to up to two dozen fields, either with employees or with families. However yearly required work for sowing and harvesting is done as a community. The crops are then sold to the Plow's Guild who sell it all over the nation. This makes The Lushgardens a very vital part of the foodcycle in Ayas. Its proximity to the rebellious province Tyvan puts it at risk, so a large military fortification known as Fort Eyric guards the border.
