People are tired of seeing all the incessant whining about the current abyss. Actually this kind of abyss needs to be the norm. It’s supposed to be the hardest content in the game and the past few easier cycles should be treated as the exception, not as the norm. This abyss is just a restoration of this norm, and people need to be reminded that the whole 600 primos were never intended to be a free lunch. And that’s what Hoyoverse did. And it managed to shatter the illusions of some people who truly believed they were invincible in the game. Seeing their malding after breaking their bubble is honestly exhilarating.
(If this is honestly what you believe then ignore the spoiler) >! /s (according to some comments I saw mocking people who complain about difficulty. )!<

Honestly we just really see a clash of playstyles here. There's one group that thinks Abyss SHOULD always be a challenge and SHOULD test not only your player skill but also your investment and your team building. Honestly even some people in this group thought this abyss went a bit overboard, but basically all the people who enjoyed the current abyss belong to this group cause they enjoy the challenge. Then there's the other group of more semi-casual players that still do abyss and 36 star but don't necessarily always pull characters with abyss in mind, but have more of a "pull who I want and it'll work out in the end" attitude. They might pull characters that benefit their teams, but in general they'll pull characters they like. The issue comes that while this generally worked in the past, the level of DPS and element checks has made it not really the case anymore, if you lack certain types of characters or teams built then you're really going to struggle. Hoyoverse sounded like they were pretty clearly catering to the second group with their entire "endgame content causes anxiety" argument and although not all former abysses were "easy", they were definitely easier than whatever we had 3.5-3.7. Generally, you can run basically any team and be fine as long as it's sufficiently invested, and if it gets countered by one-half you just put it in the other half. Recently though not only is the rate in which the DPS checks are increasing outpacing how fast you can improve your artifacts, but team building is getting a LOT more restrictive. This makes them understandably frustrated cause the "play who you want" mentality that's worked for the past 2 years no longer does.
The most played teams and units on floor 12 have been basically the same for all of 3.0, so I doubt “play who you want” has ever been a huge factor in abyss.
Aren't most of the most-played teams actually with characters from 3.X? So I don't see how it could be the same when characters like Nahida, Nilou, or Al Haitham weren't even around at the start. Of course we do have our mainstays like Raiden National or International or Hu Tao Vape, but other than that it's changed a fair amount. "Play who you want" has always been a huge factor in abyss cause there aren't that many players that pull strictly for meta. Sure the most meta picks are going to have the highest play rate, but you were able to clear with many off meta characters and characters that don't exactly counter the enemies since you could kinda just brute force it. Nowadays it feels like some characters/teams are simply just basically unusable for EITHER side of the abyss due to the sheer DPS/element checks.
The main problem is abyss rotation last for 1 and half month, so it takes away lot of characters/teams for too long, im fine with the new abyss and its very fun, but abyss is the only hard content we have and making it so restrictive prevents u to enjoy other characters, so i will need to wait almost 2 months to enjoy playing different teams again. If we had more hard modes other than abyss or if the rotation last for a week or 2 i would be fine with abyss having very restrictive rotations, as its main gimmick is the team building startegy, but as it is right now i cant support abyss being super restrictive
Me who played raiden hypercarry and yae-nahida quicken since 3.0: I'm being called out LMAO 😂😂😂
I think people really misunderstood what MHY probably intended to mean with "anxiety". As in, what they were prolly referring to was having too much content in the game, rather than too difficult of a content - it's a different kind of anxiety than what you might assume when referring to Abyss's difficulty. At least, that was the impression I got from MHY's interview.
The voices you're most likely to hear are the ones that are upset. Back when Wenut was in abyss, people ranted about enemies that just run and hide from you all the time. Now that the consecrated beasts are in abyss, we're getting complaints about enemies that are too aggressive and can combo you to death if you're not careful. Odds are, it's not the same group of people making those posts. Different abysses will elicit frustration in different people, and those people are the ones who are going to be talking about it. People who clear abyss in one try or don't care about abyss at all aren't participating. I think people have a right to vent, but there are definitely a lot of duplicate posts on the front page every time we get a new abyss. I'd be into the idea of there being an "Abyss Vent/Help Megathread" that gets posted every abyss reset.

I already said that if this is how you really feel then you shouldn’t interpret this as sarcastic.
As a launch player, I feel on a time loop. Every single new abyss cycle has this same drama. People will always find a new way to complain. They complained about stalling bosses, hoyo placed Concecrated beast, which are an actual test of your dodging skills and your team's survivability, people complain again.
Stalling bosses take player agency away by not letting you hit them. Consecrated beasts take unskilled players' agency by excessive staggering, wacky hitboxes, etc. Freeze heralds take players' agency away by freezing you. It's mostly this kind of stuff that ends up making people hate the abyss difficulty since "people want to play the game." What most people who are complaining about the high difficulty just want to bully an unmoving punching bag and unload perfect rotations. On the other side are people who enjoy the challenge, having to think on the fly, adapt to enemy AI, and develop good working strategies.

That is what the term "skill issue" is best used to describe lmao. >What most people who are complaining about the high difficulty just want to bully an unmoving punching bag and unload perfect rotations. Basically they don't want to play the game. I cant understand people with this mentality. If you don't want challenge go explore and do quests. Genshin does not lack on casual content. >On the other side are people who enjoy the challenge, having to think on the fly, adapt to enemy AI, and develop good working strategies. Meanwhile, me just messing around with team comps even after 36\* just to see what crazy comps I can make abyss doable with.
Popular opinion: The Abyss sucks period.
Abyss is a boring fast-primograb mode that nobody would even touch after first couple 36\* if not the gems. It is not a real end-game mode. Every other decent gacha realises that, so they make similar mode farmable and meanwhile provide a better end-game mode. Only Mihoyo thinks that increasing difficulty in the mode noone likes gives less "anxiety" than providing another game mode with great rewards everyone will like.
Im Okay with abyss being hard but im not okay with it being so restrictive since the abyss rotation last for 1 and half month, so it takes away lot of characters/teams for too long, i loved the new abyss and its very fun, but abyss is the only hard content we have and making it so restrictive prevents u to enjoy other characters, so i will need to wait almost 2 months to enjoy playing different teams again. Lmao, the core of “end-game content” is meant to be hard and actually end game. That is good, that is good BUT… This Abyss is not hard. It’s just so freaking boringly annoying more than anything. Mihoyo either forgot, or did they even know from the get go, how to make an end-game content? The power curve of characters is so overwhelming that in order to make content hard they are forcing themselves to go to the ways of just making enemies annoying and not hard. 12-3 floor 2 for example. This dumpster of a “boss” is not even hard or challenging, his dps is as if a clown from a circus would throw his nose at you, there is nothing challenging about beating him up. It’s just time consuming and annoying. Don’t get me wrong, I had absolutely no problem clearing it, yet it was not a satisfactory clear, rather thank God i don’t have to do that for 14 more days. Because this game mode in Genshin is no longer pushing the players to get creative with their characters and creating comps that work. Now it’s nothing but “ lets fill the Abyss with everything that cab take as much time away from them as possible and see if they can make it in 3 minutes” This is just sad. AR 60, multiple C6 R5 characters. I’m just saying what everyone thinks but won’t say. For me it was not even time consuming, but I can see how even for F2P this would be easy af, just time consuming and annoying. And being that, is not a challenge in itself, it’s just a stress power test
Exactly. I found this abyss annoying but it wasn't too bad once I figured out how to beat it.
That really is an unpopular opinion, and for good reason
The only thing annoying about this rotation is the heralds, but then again that is probably cause I don't own Kazuha. If I had him I probably wouldn't need to retry for 3 stars.
Use sucrose or venti then.
Already did that. Guess how many times the run ended cause Sucrose died cause she got melted/vaped to death? Kazuha would have never been touched by the Heralds cause of how his kit plays. Venti was on team 1 with my freeze team.

What for ? People are crying because floor 12 is too hard. Imagine the same thing without a reward, no one would do it !
[удалено]
Ok. What's the reward for the 13th floor then ? If it is primos (no matter the amount), people will cry that 13th floor is too hard and they can't get the reward. If it is for nothing at all, people won't do it and then cry because devs made something that no one is doing anyway.
[удалено]
No one would bother to do it, and people would complain about a useless content that have been dev'd instead of "more important QoL things that this billion dollar company doesn't give us ".
You know, I actually prefer this rotation over the last because there is only 1 chamber with consecrated beasts. What it comes down to for me, is whether or not I feel like I failed due to my own mistake, or some random bullshit. Enemies like Wenut and consecrated beasts add to the random bullshit factor.
Tbh Abyss has gotten harder but the rewards have stayed the same. Floor 12 as it currently is just isn’t worth the 150 primos. That’s not even a single gacha pull.
To me it just feels like every chamber is made for A different team and I don’t have Xiangling properly built (i hate her playstyle with a passion) It’s the reason I’ll most likely never finish floor 12 this time. Which is honestly fine. It’s less than 1 pull, no point in crying about it. Sometimes you just have to accept your fate (and that you need to git gud, time to hit the farming hard)
This abyss showed the power of burgeon
