Generally, it's hard to really understand what life anywhere is like unless you've personally experienced it yourself. For the most part though, all over the world, everyone is living a pretty mundane, ordinary life. The core ideology of NK and its people is Juche. An offshoot of mainline Marxism-Leninism that strives primarily for self-reliance as a defense against imperialist forces like the US. That is what the NK people believe in—the birth of their nation was marred by the Korean War, perpetrated by the most powerful capitalist nation in the world, the USA. There is no 'objective' way to understand NK because all sources will reflect the ideology of the author. If you try to understand the biases and assumptions that any source has, you will start to have a better understanding of the full picture. Still, here are some links that I think are good: [Aramaki Project: Mobile Phone Generation-Pyongyang](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gySBt8QLo60) [DPRK Explained: North Korean TV Explained](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yf-lA8f0ta8) [My Brothers and Sisters in the North](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IBqeC8ihsO8) [Chinese Vloggers Document Their Trips Through NK](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zc1WN6RkdjQ&list=PLegd4KP36a0Y775Xl_HI_tvDKB6qoxPrx&index=3) [The Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Korea: Uncovering the Hidden Korean War](https://apjjf.org/-Kim-Dong-choon/3314/article.html) [No Gun Ri Massacre](https://www.pulitzer.org/winners/sang-hun-choe-charles-j-hanley-and-martha-mendoza) [The Destruction and Reconstruction of North Korea, 1950 - 1960](https://apjjf.org/-Charles-K.-Armstrong/3460/article.html) [Crimes against humanity? Thank you for the list of resources comrade. Now to figure out how to easily find/reference them in the future when needed.

Thank you so much! I bet it’ll be a huge help!

The SOA documentary channel is the best, you can see the real DPRK as it should be seen. One of the most glaring things about it, is that everything about their society looks normal.

I like the YouTube channel DefendKorea/Natalie Revolts. Lots of eye opening on-the-ground content and developments in NK.

She's a liar who's *paid* to spread disinformation about the DPRK to make it look bad. She should not be taken seriously.

could you link some source?

Paid-Not-Payed-Bot

> liar who's *paid* to spread FTFY. Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in: * Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.* * *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.* Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment. *Beep, boop, I'm a bot*
