Afternoon to me is 12-5pm. After that it's evening.

I agree! 4:59 is afternoon and 5:00 is when evening starts. 8pm is “nighttime.”

Depends what time of the year and position of the sun for me. Afternoon can go up till 6 or 8pm depending when the sun is going to set. In the winter time, afternoon ends around 4pm when the sun is setting and I say, "Have a good evening."
