the 5500 is on the level of a 3600 in terms of fps. don't be fooled by the zen3 denominator

Any other cpus in a similar price range you'd recommend above the 5500?

Halbzu

i don't know what prices you have in your region. if the 12100 is similar priced, get that. if the 12100 is close to the cost of a 12400 or 5600, get those instead.

I'm going Zen because of the ease of upgrading the processor. Depending on the motherboard you get you can just drop in an upgraded processor. I have to be honest I don't know how easy it is to do with that series of Intel processors because I've moved on from Intel because of how often they changed their sockets. I don't have a lot of money so I'm always looking to be able to keep hardware as long as possible.

I would go for the 12100 as it's a decent bit faster in single core. A 5600 or 12400f would obviously be better though. Might be worth it to save a bit more and get one of those.

Don't think the 12400f s available here, but 6500 definitely are. So the 5600 is better than the 12100?

GoldkingHD

Yes. It has six cores and the single core performance is almost the same. If the 5600 fits your budget, than I would go for it.
