I was denied paxlovid by 3 doctors and finally my cardiologist chimed in and saved the day. Shits a joke man.

Suspect_Device7345

So true. Happy to see that recovered flair. It looks good on you.

ToXiX5280

Thanks homie now I spend my days on the hangoverremedys after a long 11 months lol.

Suspect_Device7345

I tested positive last night after a few days of symptoms….I am really nervous about what might happen with my long haul cause I’ve been suffering severely decreased functioning for 3 years now (chronic fatigue, PEM, brain fog, shortness of breath, dizziness, etc.) My doctor is unsupportive of my diagnosis and I was actually diagnosed with long haul by a nurse practitioner at the office. I scheduled an urgent care video visit and sent a message to my Dr. They called me this morning and offered an appt. with the Dr. late afternoon and I declined so I could keep my earlier appt. and hopefully see someone who understands and listens. I am currently in the process of getting set up with a new primary based on my continued negative experiences with current primary, unrelated to the current situation.

CryptogenicallyFroze

Use Plushcare telehealth. Download the app. Either use your insurance or pay the $129. Spend 1-2 minutes explaining your situation. You will 100% get a prescription sent to your pharmacy. I can’t get help for anything COVID or long COVID related from my physical doctor. I recently got reinfected and couldn’t get a prescription. PlushCare makes it way way easier. This is not an advertisement, just trying to help.

Limoncel-lo

Callondoc is $49, don’t even need to talk to a provider, just the questionnaire, test picture and id.

Age was not a requirement 2 months ago. Seems like they changed age and cost from $49 to $69. Contact their support and ask about age before paying. Paxlovid is authorized by FDA for people under 50 if they have underlying condition that is associated with high risk from infection. Underlying conditions include anxiety/depression. Since most longhaulers are gaslighted with anxiety diagnosis, seems totally legit mentioning it when getting Paxlovid.

CryptogenicallyFroze

Good to know, thanks

sighing_flosser

Did they require you to show a positive test? How did you explain your situation? Tell them about your experience with long covid? A lot of doctors are strictly denying anyone under 40 as well. Of course you don't have to answer, but if you're willing, are you under 40 and were approved for Paxlovid? Only asking as it would help those of us like myself who are younger and have been denied Paxlovid for not being above this arbitrary threshold. Would hate to dish out $129 just to be denied again. Thanks

CryptogenicallyFroze

I am under 40. I was prepared to do a lot of talking and bring up my previous issue and possible auto immune situation but I didn’t have to. I also wasn’t asked to show my test. I just said what symptoms I had and that I did indeed test positive. She made sure I wasn’t going to have bad drug interactions or that I didn’t have liver or kidney issues that would not allow me to take Paxlovid. Then she sent over the prescription. She was more concerned with safely prescribing it than being a skeptical gatekeeper to the drug.

Suspect_Device7345

Thank you for this. I will have to keep this in my notes

Super_Fondant_8469

I'm so sorry. Try to get a teledoc online etc. I heard Doctors are now being told to rx paxlovid even before symptoms start. I wonder why.... Actually all of us here know. Lc is a mass disabling event 40 times more disabling than polio. If you cant get pax, go for tollovid and vendicinals 9 maybe via Amazon. Hit the spike and Sars hard now. Also, if you want, See some of my other comments on recent infection posts to help kill the viral colonies before they set up shop. Again. Good luck 🤞🏾 you can get ahead of this if you go after it now: Reduce inflam Protect your vascular system Rest Kill thr viral colonies.

Suspect_Device7345

Thank you for your helpful suggestions I will look into these

IntelligentMeal40

I thought it was set up so that you could go through a drive-through at the pharmacy take a rapid test and they would hand you that medication? Is that not happening?

Exterminator2022

Callon doc - online docs. It’s not cheap but look on the net for coupons, I got one and ended up paying $50 for an immediate consult. But urgent cares also have telehealth and will prescribe Paxlovid with a positive test. 🍀

MexaYorker

It’s provided by the state I thought? It’s given out for free no?

Exterminator2022

The pax itself is free yes

IntelligentMeal40

Are they giving you a hard time? I got that prescribed and I don’t even have Covid, my doctor gave it to me because I thought I was going to travel and I wanted it in case I caught Covid while I was away. The one I got expires in April so I don’t think people are using it they shouldn’t be hassling people who actually want it.

Suspect_Device7345

Yes, my Dr. for some reason takes a very conservative stance on everything Covid. It’s to the point where he mitigates the severity of my chronic condition with too general to be helpful advice such as “I’m certain your condition could be stress related, here is a list of mental health practitioners in the area” or “try to exercise more”. I’ve given him more than a fair shot and I’m getting a new PCP in addition to seeing a functional medicine Practitioner March 8th.

Suspect_Device7345

Thank you everyone for your responses. I did attend an 11am telehealth and they would not give me Paxlovid, but they did prescribe Molnupiravir, which I am starting today. Has anyone here had any experiences with that? I’m going with it because it was most convenient for my situation and I am too ill to explore alternatives at the moment.

mmmegan6

I would NOT take molnupiravir and it’s bizarre that’s what they Rx’d you. It has terrible efficacy and very real concerns for mutagenicity (read: cancer down the line). Use a teledoc service and get Paxlovid (assuming you don’t have kidney problems or other contraindications - if so, go to an ER and get outpatient remdesivir)

Suspect_Device7345

I ended up ditching the molnupiravir and got Paxlovid prescribed by Amazon Clinic, as I mentioned below. So relieved!

mmmegan6

Awesome! Have you taken it yet? Let me know how it goes. It is a miracle drug as far as I’m concerned, relative to our other options (which are few and…not good)

Suspect_Device7345

Just got it and started today! I will update in a few days and again once treatment is complete. I’m feeling cautiously hopeful.

mmmegan6

Great!! I am sending you love and healing vibes!

Gain_Ordinary

My doc don't wanna give me pax cuz I'm always negative =(

Suspect_Device7345

My doc doesn’t want to give me Pax cause he’s always negative!

justatravelerintime

Are you taking any regular medications that would interact with Paxlovid? All I had to do was test positive on a home test and call my doctor's office. A nurse did triage to check that I didn't need to go to the hospital and they sent in the prescription. Nasty stuff. I did not take it the second time I was infected.

Suspect_Device7345

I think they saw Fluticasone on my record even though I attested I am no longer taking it. The medicine won't be taken off the portal list until I actually see a Dr. in person. That's the only thing I can think of because other than that, I am on a Trelegy inhaler and that's it.

justatravelerintime

Do you not live in the US or are you on Medicaid? You don't have to answer of course. Just wondering because your medical care seems very restrictive.

Suspect_Device7345

Nope, and you’re right. My doctor’s practice totally sucks

Amazon Clinic

Suspect_Device7345

I'm actually trying this one. Got the Molnupiravir from the urgent care, but I really don't trust it. I'm waiting to see if Amazon clinic will pull through with the Paxlovid for me. I just put the request in. For $35, it's worth a shot (fingers crossed)

Suspect_Device7345

It worked beautifully! I answered a questionnaire, put in my meds/supplements and got a script with a nice report for $35. Didn’t even need a telemed visit. I would recommend this to anyone who needs Pax for moderate to severe infection. Thanks!

Allergictofingers

That’s great! How do I find this? Is it part of Amazon.com?

Suspect_Device7345

Yes, it’s in the blue guide bar on the left side of the screen after you get on the website.

Big_Buu

How are you feeling now?

Suspect_Device7345

Thanks for asking. The Paxlovid did a good job at clearing out the virus. Since then, I’ve been working with a functional medicine practitioner. She put me on Low Dose Naltrexone, which had been pretty helpful with the fatigue and brain fog especially. I am still dealing with PEM, but I’m not having any major crashes anymore. She also has me on high dose fish oil, multi vitamin, B12, ADK, and Magnesium Glycinate. They are all helpful, but I am not totally healed.

MexaYorker

Getting Paxlovid is better than not getting it. Push for it, I forgot to mention to them I have long COVID so they denied it to me. Let them know you’re okay taking on the liver and kidney risks over having to experience long haul again. Be very loud and clear about it, they gatekeep that antiviral A LOT
