I wouldn't say it was short lived but PG13 used to wear 24.

redbirdjazzz

Michael Jordan wearing number 12 for a game when his number 23 got stolen.

shiny_lustrous_poo

Jersey had no name on it lol

JaDamian_Steinblatt

Post said forgotten number change, not the most famous number change

[deleted]

The real forgotten jersey number was the number 45 MJ wore when he unretired in the middle of the 95 season

mizznox

Dennis Rodman finishing his career wearing 73 for the Lakers and 70 for the Mavs. Always associate him with 91 and 10.

dash_44

I wish more players would pick high numbers. It kinda looks cool

birdflag

It used to not be allowed to have a number higher than 55 because a ref couldn’t quickly show the numbers via extended fingers to the scorekeepers.

solo118

Check out Blake Griffin

yeontura

Almost used 69

nibbinoo8

tatum wore 11 in summer league for the celtics. him and jaylen were gonna be 7/11, then he switched to 0.

lambopanda

Too bad 00 was retired. Or else they could be 007

IAmNotKevinDurant_35

I'm surprised the Celtics had any single digit numbers that weren't retired at this point

BLIZZARDFACE

Patrick Ewing wore #6 his final season in Orlando. Rick Barry wore #24 most of his career but in his final season 1979-80 with the Rockets he wore both 2 & 4 separately (Moses Malone wore 24 then)

aeiou-y

Patrick Ewing played in Orlando? 😳

Based_and_JPooled

Yep, and Hakeem Olajuwon played for the Raptors that same year. I got to see them face off in person.

aeiou-y

So crazy. I don’t remember that either. Most hall of famers who have a lost stop elsewhere seem to elude me.

hbsboak

Not much to see by that time except some big ol’ kneepads and lots of ice packs.

solo118

I believe Charles Barkley on the sixers used #32 on the sixers instead of #34 towards the end of his time there to commemorate Magic

throwawaythursday99

Michael Jordan had his jersey stolen before a game against the Magic and had to wear 12 with no name on the back. He torched them for 49 but I believe his Bulls still lost. Charles Barkley switched from #34 to 32 for his last season in Philly. Allen Iverson wore No. 1 for the 09 Pistons. Westbrook had to wear 4 for the Wizards in '21.

hoodiebrando

yeah are the wizards gonna retire gil's number or just keep holding 0 hostage

Based_and_JPooled

Ron Artest wore 15 -> 23 -> 91 -> 15 for Indiana, all changes done without leaving the team. I remember like three years in a row, in different video games, he had the wrong jersey number and it always annoyed me.

notthebestchristian

Dude’s jerseys were on their way to being winning power ball numbers

StubbornKindOfFellow

[Quintin Dailey has 20 during Payton's rookie year](https://i.imgur.com/Qj9fvgx.jpg). Tim Hardaway also wore 5 during his rookie year with the Warriors because Manute Bol had 10.

lambopanda

T-Mac changed his number to 3 in his last season with the Rockets

wince84

Iguodala for #4 at the start of his career in Philly before switching to #9. Also wore #28 when in Miami.

Outland3r_

Lowry started as #3 on the Raptors before switching to #7. When Dragic came to the Raps he switched to #1 out of respect to Kyle, however Kyle did not return the favor and wears #7 on the heat lmao

deathrattleshenlong

>however Kyle did not return the favor and wears #7 on the heat lmao I think that has more to do with the fact that Dragic's isn't getting retired by Miami while it was pretty obvious Kyle's will hang on the rafters in Toronto.

Srikkk

LeBron wore 23 in Cleveland 😲😲
