Dear PerthNow. A stranger knocked on my door last night asking for a phone and or a lift home.
If you only count last night, that's 100% of the nights that this happens to me. If you only count this week, it's 25%, and that's a 25% jump from this time last year.
There's a story here. You're welcome.
Dear PerthNow. I left a towel out on the washing line that I forgot to bring in. It's wet now. I'll probably end up rewashing it over the weekend and just dry it on the clothes horse.
I'm available for interview.
I went to a friends for dinner last night. When the rains opened (sic) he was frustrated by the fact he’d spent the afternoon hand watering his lawn. We had a good laugh.
Make sure your headlights are on and your wipers are at an appropriate speed setting. If your wipers are on max and you're still having trouble, it's acceptable to slow down below the speed limit to a more manageable speed.
Remember once the roads are wet (especially after a long dry spell where oil and other muck has had time to build up), your stopping distance will increase so ensure you're allowing slightly more distance than normal to the car in front of you and brake earlier when needing to stop. Spray can also add to visibility issues so again don't be afraid to leave slightly more distance to reduce spray. If traffic is super light I have also been known to slip into the right lane so long as nobody is looking to go past purely to avoid spray and improve visibility.
If you see a lot of standing water/deep puddles on the road, avoid going through them if you can so you don't flood your brakes and make stopping even harder
Regular maintenance of your car also plays a role too. Ensure your wipers are in working order, headlights and tail lights are working and your tyres are at an appropriate pressure and still have decent tread on them for grip and channeling standing water on the road
*Let me help you with some facts. Roads are wet. A tree branch may have fallen down. The quantity of rain may have broken some random statistic. There could be more rain in the future.*
So....drive faster to avoid the falling branches while frequently tooting your horn?
PerthNow you should do a PSA to remind Perthites to turn off their sprinklers during periods of heavy rain, per Water Corp guidance
I forgot this morning and I was spewing! (You can quote me on that)

You forgot to mention power cuts. My power was out between approximately 12:14 am and 12:45 am. I remain confused and traumatised as this has not happened since the last time we had an Autumn storm.
The intersection of King William Street and Guildford Road was flooded this morning. A lone Channel 7 cameraman was wandering around in the drizzle, so expect to see it leading their bulletin tonight.
Autumn deluge swamps Perth homes. Thousands impacted as unseasonable rain floods streets. Swimming pools overflow causing catastrophic damage to backyards. David Honey says this wouldn’t have happened on his watch. Government calls emergency meeting with SES.
Breaking news, unprecedented sky water attacks Perth. It was the wettest day since the last wettest day according to a spokesperson from the met office.
how do you guys even see what perthnow publish? I would never visit their site in a million years, and nobody sends me links. What's with all the talk here about a site that you literally never have to visit if you hate so much?
Facts? PerthNow doesn't appreciate facts.
Apologies! I will go reflect on my actions in the corner!
"People *outraged* at suggestion PerthNow is factual media"
"PerthNow *slams* Reddit sources over false claims of actual journalism"
Hopefully the quality old PerthNow's stories improves with the release of ChatGPT v4.

I don't want to know what Kerry has inscribed on his favorite dong. 🤢

Perth Now won't pick this story up. Too many truthful facts.

My condolences for your lost towel.
Thank you. It's going to make showering very difficult.

Now that's fuckin newsworthy! Hey PerthNow? Get on this one!
It is said that the sky water once came, long ago in the before time called winter.
Yes, I remember the long long ago
Water is wet!!!
Rain last night? It's still raining but you forgot to add: people can't drive once the road is wet.
Sensible people everywhere else: drive to the conditions! Cue absolutely no one in Perth driving to the conditions
I’m on my L’s and driving in the rain freaks me out big time. Can’t see or control the car - any tips?
Pass your driving test, then you can freak out on your Ps (like me).
🤣

Cheers! Appreciate the help.
Turn on the wipers and be judicious with the pedals. Stay out of puddles.

And always indicate the way you ARENT turning
And stay in the right lane to avoid those trees on the side of the road
And my cat was scared by the thunder! Ooop's that was truthful, my bad...
Wait I got this… “Animal welfare groups concerned with cat safety after vicious storm”
So true!
Don’t forget to add “turn your headlights on!”
To people who say "turn your headlights on" I say "kids don't have headlights".

To be fair when I heard my sprinklers come on at 6am this morning I thought "well that's a waste".

If I were Lauren, I would be so fucking embarrassed of my name being on the article.
Makes a change from the dry heat
But it's a dry rain
"There could be more rain in the future" LIES!
You forgot the obligatory "More rain in one day than in the previous (arbitrary amount that means nothing)"
social media users amazed water has fallen from the sky after a four months hot weather.

You're not telling us freaks where you live, but you keep leaving such tantalising clues...
It is a challenge for the curious!
When will the first Lesmurdie Falls picture of the season will be posted?
Perth is OK? No, Perth is Wet!
I was asleep while it rained last night. I am available to be interviewed.
Aye, weather stories are some of the highest trafficked stories on PN.
Please also leave comments in so boomers can blame it on the millennials
Record rain! Proof climate change is a furphy. Double March’s rainfall fell in *one* night.
/s if anyone has a hard on.
It wasn't dry
This rainfall has broken the record for most average amount on an autumn thursday night between 10pm and 10:15pm!
I heard from my neighbour that there could be hail, hope someone told PerthNow because this is breaking!

MMMM THE SMELL OF PETRICHOR
How can anyone downvote this? It is one of the best scents there is. I love the smell of petrichor in the morning.
Breaking news, unprecedented sky water attacks Perth. It was the wettest day since the last wettest day according to a spokesperson from the met office.
I went outside, there was a puddle.

This has been an intensely boring obsession for this subreddit this last week or two
I get a good giggle from it. Perth reddit SLAMMED for cyberbullying local news organisation.
I found her!!!! I found the Perth Now intern. Ragging on Perth Now is never boring
Whatever floats your boat I guess 🤷♀️
