I agree it's an issue, but I do wonder whether her constant injuries prevent her from improving match fitness. Although I feel like it's probably a bit psychological/emotional too—Andreescu never has great match fitness but drags herself through three setters time after time, scratching out wins. We don't really see that scrappiness from Emma, she's more likely to wither (tho I could be wrong)

I am a Rafa fan but i dont think Rafa should be copied. He is a naturally righty playing lefty, hence he developed an weakness in serve which is supposed to be one of big weapons for players.

Pretty sure while growing up he worked on his ground coverage more than serve like most Spanish players and he has numbers to show the worth so not sure that should be the reason not to copy. Besides Toni said several times that Rafa playing lefthand wasn't intentional at all since he believes there is no natural advantage for lefthanders else we would have several LH GS winners in the history

I don't buy that story of Rafa being forced to play left handed by Toni at all and he felt his left fh was more natural feel for him. That's why he started playing lefty in tennis & football. But service motion is completely different. For serves, you need to bend your posture and body right way inorder to get the correct toss and power. He did get that once during us open 2010 but it caused him shoulder problems. Naturally it should cause him body problems cause he is not a natural lefty. So obviously he has to drop the serve to not make it cause problems. He can improve but he can't make it a weapon like other players. So hence it's called a weakness. His serves are not bad and improved a lot but still it's called weak.

Yeah she's never fully gotten together the fitness plan for the tour. Some might blame LTA because she's not the only one with this problem (Draper). But she's also young so it makes sense that it would take some time. All the coaching changes haven't helped.

If Tommy Paul beats FAA, he'll face Alcaraz in the QFs. Tommy Paul is on a 12 match winning streak against Spaniards. His last loss against a Spaniard was Nadal in Acapulco last year.

Iirc didn't he also beat Alcaraz last year in a bo3 match from a set and 1-4 down. If so will be a great match as he will have the confidence and belief even with a slow start.

People say that Sinner is a mental midget in Bo5 but I suspect it's the fitness that troubles him and eventually, he gets brain fog. Otherwise, he looks mentally solid player sometimes almost like a robot

Sinner has a good mentality, it's just that his body fails him sometimes, but he definitely isn't a mental midget

Rybakena will definitely defeat Iga. She actually knows the right tactics. These other girls simply can't hit the ball deep and take time away from her or even attack her serves. Rybakena is too tall. Those topspin forehands of Iga won't work against Rybakena. Besides Rybakena has beaten her on clay already so this slow conditions actually wont be an advantage for Iga.

Rybakina’s movement and net game have been tested all tournament and is clearly still the weakest part of her game. Swiatek is a lot more potent than Kenin who really tested Rybakina by making her move. Swiatek isn’t a one trick pony. She has a lot of variety for varying conditions and opponents. I am a fan of Rybakina, but she’s nowhere near a lock to win if they do meet.

Swiatek has to move her around cause rybakena movement is not good. But the topspin forehand of iga actually allows Rybakena to hit the ball deep. This way she will cause errors from Iga's forehand and put pressure on iga serves and one break of serve is needed to take the set cause Rybakena serves are lethal. Other girls can defeat Rybakina but iga will struggle. She has been beaten by Rybakena in clay too. Hope to be proved wrong by Iga but one thing for sure she will earn this win, can't dominate rybakena like she dominates others. I want to see this match again to see what tactics iga brings this time. Hope rybakena can meet iga here.
