Not in the way it favors one player or favors the popular player.
But i can see them rigging some early rounds to have some 'bigger' draws in the earlier rounds of a tournament.
The #1 match that comes to my mind is Wimbledon 2011, when Isner and Mahut again drew in the 1st round.
I am disappointed by how one sided today was but tbh if you'd told me after Meddy lost to Korda in straights at AO that he'd not lose a match for two months, win 3 titles, beat Djokovic, make Indian Wells final I would have taken it with both hands.
Being the third best player behind Djokovic and Alcaraz isn't a terrible place to be. He has practically no points to defend on clay so no pressure there.
That said I hope he likes Miami courts better ☠️
I'm just gonna equally mass bet on all possible finals combination between the 4 of them, also bet on all 4 of them making the final, as well as 4 separate bets for either of them winning the title lmfao (maybe a bit more money on Ryba than the rest, I can honestly see Barbs/Saba going either way)
I feel like that's gonna be stonks profit provided most of those have like a 10-20+ coefficients
Really sad for Seb, looks like the wrist injury is very serious. Was so happy for him for defeating Med in AO, thought this could be his year to shine ... Hope he gets well soon
I think this sub will never learn to analyze better and stop overreacting, it's absolutely obvious Alcaraz is a super talent and that's not debatable.
But he is not invincible, he won in conditions that suit him vs a Medvedev who struggles on them and seemed a bit under the weather in the last matches, expected on such a streak. I wonder when did Alcaraz won vs a player of such age who played a really subpar match super easy and this sub said there was no way to beat him and that same player wouldn't have a chance? Zverev last year in Madrid, Zverev was awful from the start which put him at 0 chance vs him, the polls, the comments, all wrote Zverev as being about to be blown out of the court in RG and he legit had a chance of beating Alcaraz in straight sets but ended up in 4 sets, having dominated the match all the way to 6-4 6-4 4-4 break points up.
Give it time, you have to analyze over months/years of sustained performances, that's the truth, yeah it's boring, but that's how it is.
The other thing to consider as well is that he's been injured a lot and has a very physical game. It's quite possible that over the next five years he turns into the best player in the world when fit but has to skip half the season.
Also imagine asking this sub to wait five years, around here you're only as good as your last five hours lmao
Depends, on Monte Carlo first tournament back probably not that good, Alcaraz has already played on clay and for Djokovic to only play in Dubai and then Monte Carlo since AO at this age means he won't have as much match rhythm. I assume Djokovic will take the 3 Masters as an opportunity to get rhythm for RG, but I think it could be a tight match in Madrid and a much closer version to peak form in Rome, I'd give Djokovic the edge in Rome.
For RG I'd go with Novak, he is going to peak in Paris and over 5 sets he is something else, nonetheless, I'm waiting to see how both of them start with their performances during the Masters to judge a bit better and see if both stay healthy.
I agree, the guy is super talented. But it doesnt mean he is not vulnerable on surfaces like grass and indoor hc. But I do expect him to dominate on clay tbf and most outdoor hardcourt surfaces on the atp.
Random but I was watching Kasatkina's girlfriend's vlog on YouTube and it's a billion times more interesting than break point is cause it actually shows you what being on the tour is like
Just a heard a sports update on the radio regarding Rybakina’s triumph, but hearing: “Elena Rybakina, reigning Wimbledon and Indian Wells champion” will always put a stupid grin on my face.
Congrats to Alcaraz but I’ll need to see if he performs in other surfaces (I mean, Masters + Slams other than hard to be specific) before I am convinced.
All his strong performances are in hard courts + Madrid (which is essentially hard court). Beating a very rusty Nole (didn’t play AO + lost to Vesely and Rublev) just isn’t it. He just lost to Cam Norrie on clay last month too.
The way I see him he’s currently another hard court specialist.
Goodness, all those who say he lost to Norrie, did you even watch the match? Norrie was nowhere on the level to beat him until he felt his injury affect his game. Ofcourse, Norrie can only beat who is in front of him but even Norrie isn't as blind as you to admit who is the better player on any (regular) given day.
Hahaha I can't believe people are still so delusional and say Norrie beat Alcaraz straight up. I mean it's not Cam's fault of course.. but Carlos was so obviously injured and it was confirmed after the match.
When Carlos won Madrid: he won against a rusty Novak
When Carlos won USO: he won because Novak wasn’t playing
When Carlos won Buenos Aires: he won a against a weak field
When Carlos won IW: he’s a hardcourt specialist
Y’all just love putting down his achievements. It’s time to admit that he’s good
Some people where saying how the slow court suits more for alcaraz but i wonder with the kind off forehand and defence he has rn. He can brutal on any court any time.
I reckon he’d win this match on any HC today. I didn’t see how Medvedev could hurt him at all. Not getting to a BP when Carlitos almost always gets broken regardless of the level of the opponent is quite telling but Carlitos was switched on today. No lapse in concentration for one service game or too many UEs given away.
Nah, Meddy was tired as shit. Kinda surprised he made the final of his worst HC masters with what like 40 BPs he faced and had to play against Carlos. Indoor HC will favour his flat-hitting a lot if they meet, so should be much closer imo.
Also indoors at the end of the year it might be a case where Carlos will tend to be spent since he will always put a lot more effort into the clay swing than Medvedev would.
Don’t know about the true extent of Rybakina’s chances at RG at this stage, but good chance we will see:
Rybakina/Alcaraz 2023 Wimbledon champions
Rybakina/Alcaraz 2023 USO Champions
Rybakina/Alcaraz 2024 Aus Open Champions.
Lock in 20+ Slams together if they remain fit and injury free.
today's record for golf cart rides:
2/2 if you sat in the back
and congrats to **Denis Shapovalov** and **Olga Danilovic** for getting the Wooden Spoons!
Sitting in the stands this time last year
as I watched Fritzy lift the trophy was
one of the happiest moments of my life.
But there's always something special
about Tennis Paradise, no matter who wins, from the stands or from the couch.
Idk how he has playing at the very end bc I turned it off but Daniil wastes so much potential by playing so scared in big moments. There is no reason he can’t use slow courts to suit his game, but when Carlos came out hot tonight instead of fighting back daniil took it with no return. He is now gonna spend 3 months whining about clay even though it really is a surface he is good on when he plays with conviction. But he would rather just whine
Has Carlito's English accent improved much compared to last year?
Seems to be talking a bit slow and with somewhat less Spanish accent? Maybe taking English accent classes ;D
I'd genuinely be shocked if he wasn't exaggerating it; it's unbearable.
And I say this as a fluent French speaker who has lived in Paris, the heart of linguistic passive-aggressiveness.
I'm also fluent in french (even though it's not my mother tongue) and coincidentally have an almost native level accent when speaking the language (being born in a francophone country). But god, his accent is just too much, considering he is fluent in english and a pretty important person (CEO of BNP Paribas if I understand correcrly).
Not a sin nor a big deal, just awful to listen to
Med is very sweet and gracious in defeat, said Carlitos is the most respectful player and probably says hi to 300 people a day, acknowledged his own toxic relationship with the court, and also said despite how quickly it was over he really did try because he doesn't like to lose and he's sorry he couldn't do better 😭
The young guys just like us grew tired of seeing the same speeches by the big 4 every single week so they've decided to change the game and do some comedy.
Its nice to see us moving away from toxic masculinity in sports that the guy arguably at the top of his sport takes the opportunity to write i love you to his dad
Does the sub, in general, believe tournament draw is random? I ask because in football world, most believe it's manipulated ...
Not in the way it favors one player or favors the popular player. But i can see them rigging some early rounds to have some 'bigger' draws in the earlier rounds of a tournament. The #1 match that comes to my mind is Wimbledon 2011, when Isner and Mahut again drew in the 1st round.
I've seen too many draws that are bad for the organisers to really think that.
When's the ATP main draw for Miami get drawn?
I believe around 12 pm est
I am disappointed by how one sided today was but tbh if you'd told me after Meddy lost to Korda in straights at AO that he'd not lose a match for two months, win 3 titles, beat Djokovic, make Indian Wells final I would have taken it with both hands. Being the third best player behind Djokovic and Alcaraz isn't a terrible place to be. He has practically no points to defend on clay so no pressure there. That said I hope he likes Miami courts better ☠️
Looking forward to watching him complain about the balls in Miami for 10 days straight and make the finals again anyway :)
I kind of feel like IW and Miami should be worth like 1200 points
Sabalenka/Krejcikova (4th round) and Rybakina/Swiatek (QFs) in the same quarters again. LOL. Wish Fashion Queen Penko fulfills her seed to face Iga.
I'm just gonna equally mass bet on all possible finals combination between the 4 of them, also bet on all 4 of them making the final, as well as 4 separate bets for either of them winning the title lmfao (maybe a bit more money on Ryba than the rest, I can honestly see Barbs/Saba going either way) I feel like that's gonna be stonks profit provided most of those have like a 10-20+ coefficients
Just saw Korda withdrew from Miami, can't catch a break.
Really sad for Seb, looks like the wrist injury is very serious. Was so happy for him for defeating Med in AO, thought this could be his year to shine ... Hope he gets well soon

How do you think a healthy Djokovic will do against Alcaraz on clay?

Thanks for mentioning this! Imma check it out!
Carlitos the Miami favorite? Title defense underway?
Just a heard a sports update on the radio regarding Rybakina’s triumph, but hearing: “Elena Rybakina, reigning Wimbledon and Indian Wells champion” will always put a stupid grin on my face.
Technically, Rafa’s top 10 streak ended today right?
Correct, he fell to 11 as of today. A streak of almost 18 years, over.
The live rankings has him at #13 right now.
Miami organizers are so messy for putting Potapova vs Kostyuk as a R2 match after all the recent drama. Unhinged tournament as always 😭
Sadly it’s all random for where unseeded players, qualifiers and wildcards fall in these draws.
Draw is random, lol
Glad Med got a slam before Carlos Domination. My other dudes Stef and Felix not so lucky . . .
Btw, Im a firm believer in USO 2023 Champion Daniil Dadvedev (if he doesnt have to face Alcaraz)
Felix has no chance with or without Carlos if he doesnt fix his BH.
Wanna see those Stef fans who thought he was win gonna RG this year.....
He’ll definitely be like the fourth or fifth favorite! Not exactly the best thing to be at the French Open though…
Carlos’ dad is a Jim Courier fan. Taste>>
Who is Charlie Alcaraz
He’s said he prefers to be called Carlitos or Charlie because Carlos is his dad
As a spanish speaker I cringe when they call him Carlito (commentary)
Thank you!
Life is too short to hate Alcaraz 😌❤
Congrats to Alcaraz but I’ll need to see if he performs in other surfaces (I mean, Masters + Slams other than hard to be specific) before I am convinced. He grew up on clay and beat Nadal, Djokovic and Zverev back to back to back in a masters Why are you so bad a trolling? 😂😂😂😂
trust me he (or anyone else) doesn’t need you to be convinced
When Carlos won Madrid: he won against a rusty Novak When Carlos won USO: he won because Novak wasn’t playing When Carlos won Buenos Aires: he won a against a weak field When Carlos won IW: he’s a hardcourt specialist Y’all just love putting down his achievements. It’s time to admit that he’s good
scenes when he’s at 20 slams: hE DidnT pLaY aGaiNsT pEak Federer or Nadal!!!
He was injured against Norrie He still got the the quarters of RG, losing to a peaking Zverev isn’t exactly bad
🤡🤡🤡
Novak fans were complaining about him not getting 7000 points and he just did. I hope they’re happy 🤭
Rublev’s ranking has never made sense to me compared to where I have him in my mind
I mean he currently has QF at all the slams he was allowed to play at and sf at the atp finals haha
Ferrero’s face when daniil said carlitos is the most respectful player on tour. You just know that’s what made him the proudest.
Every time Carlitos puts on his hoodie I imagine he's donning a Winnie The Pooh costume
Back to his teenage hoodie, hoodie on
Some people where saying how the slow court suits more for alcaraz but i wonder with the kind off forehand and defence he has rn. He can brutal on any court any time.

He made a really slow court look fast. Just ridiculous.

She can't move well
Carlitos winning on grass is unlikely and will most likely not happen this year.
This means Alcaraz has the elder wand right?
Should just retire and keep it forever
Go my child !
Is there a post game interview on tennis channel?
today's record for golf cart rides: 2/2 if you sat in the back and congrats to **Denis Shapovalov** and **Olga Danilovic** for getting the Wooden Spoons!
Sitting in the stands this time last year as I watched Fritzy lift the trophy was one of the happiest moments of my life. But there's always something special about Tennis Paradise, no matter who wins, from the stands or from the couch.
is this the same exact trophy for the wta? looks really heavy. rybakina could barely hold it up earlier haha
Yes, Indian Wells has the same trophy for both ATP and WTA draws.
He’s so cute. Arms working hard, there. 👀
Idk how he has playing at the very end bc I turned it off but Daniil wastes so much potential by playing so scared in big moments. Please carlos is so lost and adorable out there with the trophy 😭😭😭 i can't stop smiling 🥰🥰
Carlos’ bicep vein is gnarly
That little tilt of the head as he poses with the trophy. Boy knows how to pose for the camera hahaha
Damn Carlos those arms
Aight Carlos, I see that bicep vein 👀
don't pop it hehe
Look at how strained Carlos' arms are holding that trophy. The cameraman zoomed in on the vein popping out of his bicep for emphasis.
it's literally a dumbbell weight
Absurdly heavy for no reason.
Only the strong deserve it and only the muscular or those with bionic biceps, kidding not kid
Carlos was actually doing Daniil a service by winning this trophy.
He really is ridiculously wholesome and adorable.
Well done mate ! Go my child
camera guy zooming in on Carlos's biceps 😂
Has Carlito's English accent improved much compared to last year? Seems to be talking a bit slow and with somewhat less Spanish accent? Maybe taking English accent classes ;D
It definitely has improved!
He says he studies english at night
After he practices tennis for like 8-10 hours. 🤯 Damn the kid is a legend.
The wind is making a number with those fireworks XD
Mr bnp paribas they do not know you lil bro 💀
He's such a try hard. He should have just said "WE ARE BNP PARIBAS, WE ARE MASSIVE, WE BANKROLL THIS SHIT, HAVE A GOOD TIME"
LMAO
The Meddy Carlitos height difference 😍
Cheeky little close-up of Alcaraz's bicep
Carlos doesn’t say much but he has crowds going mad over him. His racquet really does all the talking for him 😍
Goddamn I don’t think Carlos was even flexing there but the difference in arm muscles while carrying those trophies
Did Rafa bite that trophy when he won IW? Thing looks really sharp
Looks heavy
The anxiety I just got watching Carlos lift that trophy above his head oh god
Nah he a buff boy
Vamosssss Carlitosssss
I should prolly start doing Duolingo again
The smoke just disappears instantly in the wind 😂
Looked pretty though haha
One heck of a gender reveal
Waiting for Carlitos to pick up his trophy
Has anybody ever excited the tennis world more than Alcaraz? Novak? Roger? Rafa? Anybody?
Nick Kyrgios, of course.
Rafa definitely
Ostapenko outfits
🤣
Probably the three names you just mentioned yeah
https://youtu.be/QMI7Trl0CwM Rare moment of Alcaraz losing his temper..
Alcaraz as classy as ever, what a guy.
The french accent of this guy is unbearable. And I say it as someone with a heavy foreign accent when speaking english
Congrats !!
Alcaraz's English is fine, it's mostly his pronunciation he has to work on
Yay Carlitos
JCF looks like a proud dad in the box. I hope they continue to have this wholesome relationship throughout his career
Awww, Juan Carlos Ferrero looking like the proudest papa. 😍
Ferrero is just a beautiful man
He dropped an ombeliable. Real deal confirmed
You just know he's been crushing it on Duolingo
JCF a proud father 😭
Is there a more likeable player on the tour than Carlitos?
Yes
I always enjoy how proud JCF looks.
lmao side eye med
Carlitos's English is getting a little bit better, slowly, lol. I wish they'd just let him speak Spanish though. Seems cruel.
Wait for it in Miami.
Then what would they do with Rybakina, Sabalenka and Medvedev? Lol
Carlos putting that watch on. Yaaaas honey you said 1.6mil ain’t enough I’m keeping the sponsor girls HAPPY
These speeches will end up being longer than the match.
It was just so easy to lose
English also improving massively. I hope he'll be fluent in a couple years
Having an accent does not mean you are not fluent. His English is just fine.
the most difficult thing for Alcaraz: Winner Speeches on English
American tournaments never fail to mention the money won before giving the trophy. Capitalism!
cash rules everything around me, cream get the money, dolla dolla bills y’all
I feel like I'm listening to Rafa with a deeper voice
Man it’s so tacky when tournaments announce the prize money the winner goes home with. Seems to mainly be the case at US tournaments as well.
Money is good.
that height difference tho
Carlitos english is getting better or it is me?
Ehhhhh
Yes, much better
i’m excited to watch carlitos’ english improve over the years, just like with nadal
Id argue that Carlos’ is better now than Nadal’s was at 19.
aw 🥹
I adore both these guys
Lol med towers over carlos
Such a good kid.
No 1 baby
Congrats Carlos!!
What a smile
Yet to see a tournament director dude who doesn’t bore me to death
Talks way too much
Or CEO whatever he is
Probably someone related to BNP Paribas, which is a french bank
Why do they give the sponsors/CEOs so much speech time, damn
They are bankrolling this
Oui oui, ya French fuck
Not a bad speech by the BNP Paribas CEO. Just focused on the tennis, the fans, organizers. Not interested in the corporate stuff
"Uh we are a multinational banking group, best in the world, we are not going the way of Credit Suisse, that's for sure"
Lmao
Honestly, I believe Rybakina & Alcaraz will win Miami too 💅
The court is the guilty! When you only know to return from that position and don´t have a plan B. Well....
Best speech i swear Daniil, too funny
What did he say, for those of not able to watch?
he thanked the court and described the toxic relationship he has with it 😭
Awww Meddy. Such a likeable octopus
Medvedev the 🐐of interviews
I just want to hear Carlos
[удалено]
Still better than the Dubai ceremonies 🗿
Medvedev got Octopus rizz
That Med speech was like him dangling some plastic toy keys in front of us r/tennis toddlers
he could be an entertainer, so fantastic
Meddy unarguably one of the most entertaining personalities on tour the guys just himself.
The young guys just like us grew tired of seeing the same speeches by the big 4 every single week so they've decided to change the game and do some comedy.
medvedev is the goat of speeches
get this banker out of here omg no on cares
I'm gonna go short their stock right now 😅
Dude, this guy is thinking about the bank runs rn not this tournament.
God Meddy doesn’t MISS in a post match speech
Man Danill is a top G 🫡
Its nice to see us moving away from toxic masculinity in sports that the guy arguably at the top of his sport takes the opportunity to write i love you to his dad
Dude what
That's what he wrote on the camera. It's cool to see in an area where men are conditioned to have machismo and not express emotions deemed "not manly"
