Trying out a live match thread for the Sinner — Djokovic match. EDIT: I don’t think live threads are coming back. Thanks for humoring me, and by extension the rest of the mods, but I personally don’t think it’s the optimal method of doing match threads. We will discuss. EDIT 2: Dedicated match threads will return in time for the semis. They will be normal threads; not live threads.
classic first game break
after watching Taylor's press conference, his voice and looks were made to be in a twilight movie or just an actor in general
So does anyone believe Taylor can actually win
Can he? Yes. Will he? Probably not.
I mean winning the first set massively increased his chances
Yep
I will be going back home after 2 months on Sunday What a way to relax seeing the Wimbledon Final (Secretly hope for a Novak-Rafa Showdown)
Was it Sock or Kudla that couldn't continue in their doubles match? Hoping it wasn't Jack.
I just want Halep to get one more slam ,she deserves it
If Fritz wins tomorrow he will have, in 2022, snapped Nadal’s 20-0 win streak AND ended his quest for a calendar year grand slam. Definitely will have earned his place in the Rafa Nadal Hall of Villains alongside the likes of Robin Soderling and Lukas Rosol.
comeon, he beat nadal with broken ribs. and nadal still forced one tiebreaker in one of the sets. like nadal said he can't give an honest appraisal of how he plays against fritz because in the IW final he had fractured ribs. if nadal had beaten fritz with broken ribs then i would say the same thing. it counts as an official win but it was the same as a walkover essentially.
If he was able to get to a tiebreak it certainly wasn’t a walkover but how tf did he do it with broken ribs lmao
shouldn’t be playing with broken ribs a loss is a loss
Tomorrow's match lineups is so juicy and sweet, like I can't wait.
Maybe I’m completely underestimating Taylor but I don’t see how he has a shot. Yes, he’s been playing great (Eastbourne title) but his opponents thus far have been fairly lackluster. Rafa on the other hand, is just a different beast in slam quarters. Given they were both injured in their last match, it’ll be interesting to see how they match up given they are both heathy-ish.
he beat the world #288 in the 2R (wild card) and the #99 (qualifier) in the 4R. yet all the 'experts' LARP like he was beating cressy or FAA. and the other two higher ranked opponents he beat are solid top 100 players (none were higher ranked than #51) but are nothing like cerundolo (#41), sonego (#27 seed), and van de zandschulp (#21 seed), nadal's opponents
Fritz winning Wimbledon would be neat but it’s crazy to think that Nick is going to reach final
I don’t think fritz would win a set against Djoker
Why would they schedule kyrgios and nadal’s match at nearly the same time 🤦♂️ tmrw
they did the same today. it depends on the women's match which is first.
I think if Sinner had come to the net more, he would've had a chance. Because Novak's defence is so good, he's able to stay in points more and he makes his opponents play that extra shot and they either miss them or Novak weaves his way back into the point and then goes on the offensive.
sinner has no idea how to go to the net....he's a baseliner
Yes. Next gen have no idea how to approach the next or what to do when they get there.
Do we really need 845 Novak memes?
No. We need more!
Does anyone think there's a strong chance that Nadal loses against Fritz, or is that just me?
I think it's going to 5
fritz is a very tough stylistic matchup for rafa since he has great power and prefers the backhand, he’s in great form, and has beaten rafa in straights in the indian wells final this year. fritz has a big serve (but gets broken semi-frequently for not dropping a set so far) and his return has been excellent as well. it won’t be easy. i would expect a tight rafa win in 4 or 5.
fritz beat nadal who had broken ribs in IW. and nadal still forced a tiebreaker. you really think fritz' 2R wild card opponent (#288) and 4R qualifier opponent (#99) were the same level as sonego (#27 seed) and van de zandschulp (#21 seed), nadal's toughest opponents?
Nadal will win easily
I think people are crazy to think Nadal will have an easy win, Fritz is in the form of his life
LMAO... you really think fritz' 2R wild card opponent (#288) and 4R qualifier opponent (#99) were the same level as sonego (#27 seed) and van de zandschulp (#21 seed), nadal's toughest opponents? nadal straight setted his 3R and 4R opponents too and didn't play #288 in the 2R and #99 in the 4R like fritz did
Fritz has a big serve in his bag along with powerful ground strokes. If he’s playing the match of his life, he definitely has a solid chance
Anyone still mourning the Sinner loss? I'm so annoyed. So close and yet so far........
Yeah I am, on behalf of both Sinner and Norrie
Poor norrie but goats gotta goat
[удалено]
Yes
Anybody else watching from home also stand up and clap after a great point? 😂
I do that when Rafa takes points out of his magic hat lol, especially in the matches he's struggling.
Same!
So annoyed I won’t get to watch Rafa’s match tomorrow live. Ughhhhhhhhhhh.
Hiw about the Wimbledon app's radio stream. It's pretty great if you aren't able to watch it.
I will be in meetings so I guess I’ll be refreshing FlashScore 😭
So sorry. I can do some on the fly play-by-play and analysis of anything notable as the match progresses.
You’re so sweet. I’m sure I’ll be posting here tomorrow and asking for a quick recap.
Spoiler for the first set. >!Fritz seemed a little more rusty with the two day gap and gave Nadal a chance to break early, which he did. In the early part of the set, Nadal was able to push Fritz back and force his opponent into some errors and got a quickly lead up to 3-1!< >!Unfortunately for Nadal, he seemed like his early peaking allowed him into lull and Fritz was getting more into form, especially on serve. Nadal put himself into one of those, I'll just break back, but it was too little, too late as Fritz consolidated his break and broke again as Nadal continued to falter on his serve allowing Fritzto go up 0-40!< >!First set Fritz, 6-3!<
Thank you so much for the recap! Omg just saw the scoreline. Did not think Fritz would take the first set. How’s Rafa playing now?
Spoiler for second set. >!The second set seemed like it was going to be a carbon copy of the first. Rafa rushed out with an early break and held his serves to go up 3-0 only to have Taylor Fritz storm back and win 3 games straight after Rafa was faltering.!< >!Then there were some new plot developments and plot twists. Rafa favoring favoring his abdomen, was holding on for his tournament life. His 1st serve and 2nd serve both dropping 10mph below his average for the tournament, he needed a medical timeout to treat his aching body. After coming back out, there was some brilliant passing shots and lobs to stay with Fritz deep into the set.!< >!Fighting off some scrappy shot making from the less than 100% Nadal, Taylor started to let things get away. Down on 30-40, trying to hold serve to force a tiebreaker, Nadal hit an excellent passing volley shot as both players were at net to secure the set 7-5!<
You’re amazing! Thank you!
Final quick recap of the 5th set. >!Nadal seemed to keep it steady, for the most part, on point construction. Mixing the rallies based on hitting Fritz deep and either a drop shot or approaching the net for a volley winner. This combined with getting enough errors from Fritz to stay alive until a tiebreaker, with both players splitting a break each. Nadal then kept his level high and Fritz did not play his best. 5-1 at the change over. Fritz saved a couple break points, but Nadal was too good in the end and took the final set and it's onto the semifinals!!< I will watch the fourth set for myself because of all the breaks and was not able to watch it live. Overall, a great match where Nadal found a way to survive against a solid grass court opponent.
A quick recap of sets 3 and 4 >!I apologize for my limited viewing experience for this recap. The third set was pretty straight forward. Nadal was broken twice and showed more signs of ailing as Fritz takes it 6-3. The four set I'm going to have to rewatch in a replay with FIVE service breaks. Nadal takes it 7-5 with a late break. We're on to a fifth set!!<
We know that Djokovic is most likely going walk away with the win to the finals. But what would it take for Cam to win? What does the unlikely Cam victory look like here?
Norrie’s serve is not going to be easily held against Djokovic. It is not very good compared to the rest of his game and Nole is an incredible returner
Your random quote from the movie The Incredibles is: Dash runs inside Helen's room again and takes his suit.)
This is already known. What would Cam need to do to win
Only way I can see is if Novak is out of sorts and the toilets are out of service.
Here come the toilet jokes
Predictions for tomorrow: Rybakina d. Tomljanovic in 3 Rybakina’s stellar form will continue through this match, but she will drop a set due to the occasion more than anything else. Tomljanovic will probably start off better, but Rybakina will get stronger throughout the match and will close it out in 3. Halep d. Anisimova in 3 Anisimova is a gutsy young upstart, but Halep is a wily veteran who is looking for her second title here. Halep’s form against Badosa was exceptional and I expect that to continue here. However, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Anisimova take advantage of a slight dip as Halep is a little older now. Kyrgios d. Garin in 3 Kyrgios had his meltdown against Tsitsipas and survived. He was strangely calm until the end against Nakashima and survived. The fact that he won through both extremes shows to me that he’s dialed in on this tournament. Garin doesn’t have the game to cope with Kyrgios’ serves, and he won’t have any significant advantage elsewhere. Should be easy pickings for Kyrgios. That being said, Kyrgios’ mentality will always be a factor. Nadal d. Fritz in 4 While Fritz did beat Nadal their last time out (both were injured to some extent that we will never really know), Nadal has a much stronger pedigree on grass and is much more experienced at these later stages in slams. While I do think that Nadal’s 3rd set issues will come back to bite him in some capacity here, Fritz won’t be able to shift the momentum enough even after winning that set to change the eventual outcome.

you really think fritz' 2R wild card opponent (#288) and 4R qualifier opponent (#99) were the same level as sonego (#27 seed) and van de zandschulp (#21 seed), nadal's toughest opponents?
You keep posting this comment everywhere. Sonego and van de zandschulp were simply awful, Nadal barely had to do anything special to beat them. They were mostly happy to beat themselves and played well only at brief moments. I still think Nadal beats Fritz because he is Nadal, and he always manages to raise his level to meet the demands of the moment. But I am not convinced Nadal really had tougher matches than Fritz so far, the rank doesn't really tell you how the person is playing at a particular moment.
please god let nadal vs kyrgious happen 😇😇🥰
The guys don’t play on Thursday right. I think it’s glitched on Google
Check out this SHOCKING Nick Kyrgios Livestream that Doctors DON’T Want you to Know About

Novak has the most strict and insanely precise politics regarding what enters his body. That also includes liquid and what they're made of. He was probably asking something about that liquid. Don't know why the tweet says "it certainly wasn't liquid", it's just that Novak pressed the bottle to take a mouthful. Those people on Twitter saying it's doping baffle me. Like why the hell would he do that on camera lmao
Random player with a beautiful serve action: Max Purcell. Actually really like the look of all of his strokes having watched him play doubles, looks very effortless. I hope he breaks through properly in singles too.
Medvedev, Tsitsipas and Musetti all have had terrible months after their losses from two sets up. I'm a bit afraid for Sinner...
zverev also. 2020 USO F. he did win two mickey mouse tournaments in germany though but he didn't do well in big tournaments.
Putting Nadal and Nick on different courts at the same time is criminal
It's the only way to keep Nick from going to Nadal's match and heckling him
Not gonna lie that would be kinda hilarious
It's terrible. I bet you if both Nadal and Nick advance, they put them on the same time again.
Why is it so difficult to find Wimbledon highlights? Are they clamping down on that? At this stage in the tournament I really like to watch the highlights from all matches on YouTube, since I can’t catch everything in real time. But, almost none of them are on there
yes. i have a theory that outside of england the ATP/WTA has banned highlights on the wimbledon youtube channel. i think the punishment against wimbledon goes far beyond rankings points. they don't allow wimbledon's youtube channel to earn advertisement revenue from highlights videos. or they pulled some tricks and made a deal with youtube which is based in the USA. you can watch highlights on the official wimbledon website though. just browse through the homepage and you can find the highlights. the highlights are not very good, btw. it's like some AI-generated highlights. wimbledon is as bad as the french open with highlights. AO and USO are the best at very long highlights and even full match replay videos but then again they aren't run by a bunch of geriatric dinosaurs like wimbledon and the french open.
It's nice to see the media here in New Zealand giving Cam Norrie a bit of paid due finally. Compared with someone like Ben Stokes (Kiwi born cricketer who plays for England) who get's "nz born Ben Stokes' every time he plays Cam has not had the sort of media attention you'd expect for the highest ranked player who grew up in NZ since Anthony Wilding (and since Belinda Cordwell retired in the early 90s he's the only one who has been in the top 35 in the world). I think specifically because he left NZ tennis for the UK he definitely got up some people's goat but it does seem like the media are coming around on him and hope to see him playing Auckland again next year.
Aussies turned on Konta when she changed allegiances to the UK lol. Moved to the UK when she was 14 and changed as soon as she got citizenship despite having spent more than 2/3 of her life in Australia at that point.
I didn’t know that
That’s good to hear the Kiwis are getting behind him. I don’t think you can blame him for changing his tennis passport when there wasn’t the funding there to support his ambitions (or at least it wasn’t allocated to him).
"Up some people's goat?" https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/get%20someone%27s%20goat That the New Zealand version of this phrase involves ruminant bestiality is hilarious, but I thought sheep was more your thing?
With better call saul ending soon , Halep can focus more on tennis
I don’t understand the context of this?
I kept thinking i have seen halep somewhere. Today realized she looks like actress from better call saul
Surprisingly Rafa is the only player who hasn't played a 5-setter so far. I really want him to win this. I'm kinda worried though. I can see him lose or win against any of the potential opponents in QF/SF. And then playing possibly against Djoker in the final would be one of the biggest undertakings of his career. Stars need to allign for the big Rafa Wimbledon win to happen.
Fritz hasn’t dropped a set.
I somehow discounted Fritz in my mind, giving the win to Rafa 😂 But then I acknowledged I can see his QF going either way, lose or win
Nadal to win Wimbledon in an epic 5 setter vs Djokovic saving championship Points on 7-8 40-15 Djokovic serve. Nadal aiming for the calendar grand slam, reaches the final to face Federer, he leads 2-0 vs Federer, only for Federer to make a comeback taking it to the 5th set tiebreak. Nadal has championship point, Fed saves with a clutch passing shot. Federer serves two aces in a row to win the US open. Fed goes on to win AO vs Djoker. He plays the French and finally beats Nadal, to win Roland Garros, completing the double career grand slam. He goes on to win Wimbledon vs Djoker, a 20 year gap from his first Wimbledon title. He goes on to reach the US open final, he beats Murray, Nadal and Djoker and reaches the final, only to lose in straight sets to the the GOAT TIM VAN RIJTHOVEN!
Upvoting for the effort.
>Fed […] plays the French and […] beats Nadal Probability of this happening dropped to 0 right there
It already had when he said he would beat Novak at AO. He wouldn’t win a set
It would be wild tho
No seriously, how long did it take you to come up with this?
Like a few minutes.
[удалено]
Assuming he did, would it end the goat debate?
Found this masterpiece online. I hope it’s satire 😂😂 Djokovic road to a MICKEY MOUSE ATP finals title: -injured Tsitsipas & Berrettini withdrew -Nadal too injured to play -Norrie, Rublev, Ruud, Sinner, and Hurkacz are FAKE TOP 10 PLAYERS -Zverev/Medvedev gassed from post-US Open tourneys Nole didn’t play in -WEAK ERA merchant🥱🥱
So it’s djokovics fault there’s “fake” top 10 players?
🐭🐁
Oh it's the early 2000s all over again! Except instead of Federer..... it's Djokodeus Novart !
Kyrgios doing a podcast on his YouTube rn?
He is ?
With an interesting "Exclusive Shocking Video (+18)" Mediafire download... not suspicious at all.
haha in my yt app I have a live video called "Nick Kyrgios: Tsitsipas backstage attack video, decision to end.. " rn
Yeah Is it real or nah it has a ton of people watching
came here to check it, but since we're the only ones talking about it definitely fake
Been a bit busy IRL lately since RG and haven't paid much attention to tennis lately. Decided to check the Wimbledon ladies' singles today, but holy cow, only 2 out of the Top 16 seeds survived (3rd seed Jabeur and 16th seed Halep), with most of them deciding to pick the 3rd round to get dumped out collectively. And if you discount Novak and Rafa, the men's singles is just as crazy, with only Norrie and Fritz the only Non-Big-Three in the Top 16 seeds remaining, with the 3rd to 8th seeds all wiped out.
Also interesting Jabeur would be playing Tatjana Maria in the semis, a rare OHBH player among the women who's a mother of 2, had never gone beyond the 3rd round of a grandslam (which also only happened once in her career) and at 34 is the oldest debutant in a grandslam semifinal!
I AM SO HAPPY FOR CAM 🥹
Great day of tennis we had, with four excellent matches
You liked, that is cool 😎 👌 😀 I thought yesterday was not so bad, can't wait to see Garin vs Kyrgios And of course Nadal and Fritz
All the matches went the full distance today!
Got gangway 103 row b tickets for centre tomorrow on the Wimbledon ticket website about an hour ago!!! So happy
Same! I got 112 row A. Really glad Wimbledon started putting tickets online.
Nice ! Who will you see?
Holy shit, that’s an incredible view
Your random quote from the movie The Incredibles is: I’m not hungry for meatloaf.
I know, I had no idea until I looked it up afterwards! Can't believe that seat became available!!
i respect fritz enough to give him one set vs rafa but look at his 2R and 4R opponents: 2R: (WC) alastair gray ranked #288 with a 1-3 ATP record 4R: (Q) jason kubler ranked #99 with a 7-10 match record in the ATP show rafa some respect in the QF. he actually beat 3 guys ranked higher than 55 compared to fritz and he has played very well in 3R and 4R against two top 30 seeds.
Fritz just beat him lol
Awesome things: Norrie finally getting the respect he deserves in England, and just Ons in general 🥰 love that she’s called the minister of happiness in Tunisia.
Yay not so bad ! Let's go Cam and Ons
Is this livestream from Nick Kyrgios on youtube real? "Nick Kyrgios: Tsitsipas backstage attack video, decision to end Wimbledon & psychological issues"
It's some type of scam.... the comments (fake, obviously): Nick Kyrgios Hey, guys! You can download the video here Nick Kyrgios [https://www.mediafire.com/file/6wdyys](https://www.mediafire.com/file/6wdyys)... Nick Kyrgios I'm very sorry for my mental behavior and I deeply regret everything. Nick Kyrgios Video is strictly 18+
Man I stumbled upon that too, shit was bizarre
It can’t be real. I was watching it and at one point he says I have a couple tournaments coming up Wimbledon. We’re in the middle of it. They’re also both talking about how they were in Australia right then an there. It’s scammers
Got it thanks lol I was wondering why so many people were watching
Going to kill the UK press when they discover that Norrie has no English in him. Born in South Africa to Scottish and Welsh parents and raised in New Zealand.
He is pretty much 100 pct Texan.
Yeah before this, I got talked back saying he is Brit and people say Kiwi Kiwi ! He is Kiwi and South African through and through, and then American in college
I hate to break it to you but Sotland and Wales are very much in the Kingdom. The United Kingdoms of England, Scotland and Wales. Many Monarchs of the UK have been Scots. The present Monarch is 1/2 Scots.
Hey! I'm British and understand the islands. It was a comment towards the English pride shown by the UK press, for example when Murray would lose and everyone would call him Scottish, but when he won, he'd be British. I mention the media because I believe they'll have a hard time because he has no English, specifically, in him. Let's see their reaction if he loses.
He already lost. In the 2nd round. Lol where have you been?
I mentioned Murray as an example. I've been right here thanks and I'm obviously on about Norrie...
You said IF Murray loses we'll see. But he lost ages ago. (shrug) I'm hoping Norrie makes it through I really do I'd love to see him hoisting the Trophy but I think the Djoker will be too strong and wiley
And spent 3 years in Texas
I lived in Texas for like 10 years. Don’t recommend unless you live in Austin or Houston and can handle extreme heat
You said it yourself >born in South Africa to Scottish and Welsh parents The UK press won’t mind backing a person with two UK parents.. nobody is arsed if he’s English. Everyone still backed Murray despite him being a Scotsman.
If he wins, he's 100% English.
He's reached the semis already. He's English enough.
Norrie and Ruud shutting down the haters in the last few months.
Nick kyrgios live on his YouTube now
No one cares
I was always a fan of Norrie but a few years ago I thought he'd be the perennial top 50 sort of player but can't ever make top 20. He's now won the biggest masters title and is in the semis of Wimbledon. I'm so happy to have been wrong.
Damn. Farah fell and hurt his wrist, not hitting the ball well now. I want Krawczyk/Skupski to win, but not like this.
Did Thiem just win a match
Happy for Ons, happy for Thiem. Good day
The rise of Cameron Norrie is simply astounding. Two years ago he wasnt even in the top 50, ever since that he has won a master 1000 title, reached top 10 and become British no.1. Now he even makes the Wimbledon semis! What he has achieved so far definitely exceeded what most professional tennis players can ever imagine. Hope his success can be an inspiration to all the late bloomers in tennis.
Yes, but Novak next! You think he can do it?
[удалено]
Agree, simply put, Norrie doesnt have the requisite weapons to challenge Djokovic. He can only keep grinding against Djokovic to hang in there. There is a glimmer of hope he steals a set from Djokovic if he somehow manages to fuel up with the insane support from the crowd. Otherwise Djokovic should win in 3.
[удалено]
Well I genuinely hope we are not going to witness another slaughter again, merely for the sake of the game.
he's not that old. wawrinka winning slams at age 28 after doing nothing for so long is old. norrie still has two more years before we can call him 'old' or a 'late bloomer'. norrie is only 26
Yes Wawrinka is a late bloomer in terms of Grand Slam success. But if the definition is extended to the broader tennis universe, he certainly does not belong to this category. As a successful junior, he has won the French Junior Open. He first reached top 50 at the age of 20 and top 10 at the age of 23. When compared to the other tennis players apart from a few generational talents, he is more like a early bloomer lol. In contrast, Norrie was basically still a nobody at 23, only making his debut in top 100.
Anybody who knows Wimbledon well, can you queue for ground tickets this weekend? I queued last week and got centre (obviously know that isn't possible on finals weekend) but can you still get in for ground if you queue?
Yes
Ostapenko would have played the Girls singles and doubles if she would have been eligible. She just lives to be on the court.
Shes in the semifinals of women's doubles and out of mixed doubles.
So Ons doesn't have to beat anyone in the Top 30 to make it to the finals, whereas only Mertens is ranked in the the Top 40 (31 right now)...
Anyone know why Kudla/Sock retired from doubles?
Kudla back injury

Lmaooo why’d u get blocked

Lol I’m blocked too

I’ll get u justice
Ons the selfie expert. "No, no, you have to press that."
Bouzkova is so wholesome. I am a fan
Ons says the same thing for all players, they all are her family. Habibi !
Ons is such a beautiful human being.
Ons is such a sweetheart. Also I think we have our new meme for Ons vs. Maria — THE BARBECUE SHOWDOWN
Bouzkova has had 2 kids? Damn she looks great and Ons being the darling she is shouted her out. Edit I’m a total dumbass. Thanks for the corrections guys. Ons was talking about her next opponent Maria
She is a kid herself, too early to have kids.
She was talking about Maria her next round opponent and barbecue-buddy
What? No way. She’s like 22? Where did you hear that? They’re probably discussing ons’ next opponent. She has two kids
My bad. I missed a critical part of the post game and just assumed like an idiot
She’s talking about her next opponent Tatjana Maria
Shit well I’m a total idiot lol
