So fucking happy for Shapo. You don’t know how long us Canadian tennis fans have been waiting for this. Heartbreak, after heartbreak… Hoping he can have a strong end to his season, after a rough few (7-8) months, with many losses to lower ranked players.

treyfiddy

kovacevic packs a mean ass serve 😳😳 and nishioka has a hella weird ass backhand. looks like he's falling over erytime he strikes

yYyJustitia

This Nishioka-Kovacevic match is surprisingly good!

ExcuseYou-What

thoroughly impressive shellacking of the ball from Shapo; the quality of the ball-striking and mix of defense and offense hasn't been this good in a while he now has a contingency for if he doesn't do well in stockholm as well

treyfiddy

so happy for shapo - you could tell this win meant a lot for him especially given his ~~disaster~~ underwhelming season.

treyfiddy

at Seoul open now. Shapo is playing so well and has got so much crowd support haha.

ameliaSea

Oh no! Kanepi vs Kontaveit and I like them both

rubbish_bin030121

Tennis tv commentator starts talking Shapo wins everything and gain a spot in ATP final lol

dpanglas

Damn Shapo, that serve was tryna go to North Korea

rubbish_bin030121

Seoul should get a 500 events or even a Masters instead of Beijing and Shanghai, there is the most friendly audience for every players and they cheer for every good shots that makes me worry they will be tired very soon

SwgohSpartan

Beijing is done I’m pretty sure, the tournament has been moved to Astana. I think Shanghai is done too. Good riddance, the crowds for those events were absolutely awful

rubbish_bin030121

No, the Shanghai will be back next year according the tennis reporters in Shanghai only Federer and local players get the appreciation from the audience in Beijing and Shanghai I remembered I muted my live first time when I watched Rafa vs Roger in Shanghai 2017 because the audience were too disturb and disrespect to nadal

shegotofftheplane

Shapo is lucky Brooksby can’t serve for shit

shegotofftheplane

Just when Shapo was on fire and giving us hope, he double faults thrice when serving for the set 🤡

TallThing6233

And then get the break back, pure Shapo. lol

AncientLyte

What a choke

shegotofftheplane

If only Shapo could play like this all the time (or even 50% of the time)

icecreamwithketchup

Shapo just demolishing the ball right now and not missing too often. Brooksby has to basically hope that Denis cools way off if he wants to win

aweap

Damn! We're gonna one-handers in both of Seoul's semifinals! 😍

TallThing6233

After a slow start, Shapo is giving Brooksby a tennis lessons atm.

Auzou

I may have to respect the.game of Jenson B. But I am not sure if I will ever say I enjoy watching him play.

chespiotta

Was not expecting to see Krejcikova beat Haddad Maia with the year she’s been having so far.

Sweetcarolinelove

Babs is back!

[deleted]

Because Djokovic lost to FAA in the Laver Cup and no longer holds a perfect record vs. Canadians, the all-time best record vs. any one country is Edberg vs. Austria - 23-0. 10-0 vs. Muster, 6-0 vs. Skoff, 5-0 vs. Antonitsch, 1-0 v. Schaller, and 1-0 v. Pils.

Odessaturn

Unless you count laver as an exhibition

[deleted]

Yeah, not up to me.

Classics22

It’s not an exhibition it counts towards h2hs

The_Entheogenist

Jack Sock playing like Jack Suck today. Hugo Gaston leads 6-2; 3-0.

clearlyPisces

As an Estonian tennis fan, I am in for a treat tomorrow! Big hitting, big serves. I wish they would have met in final though... But how symbolic that they will play each other for the first time in their home country🥰

aweap

What a high quality match and I really appreciate Kanepi's class...the first thing she said in the post-match interview was that she's so happy Anett came through as well! Big day for Estonians for sure! 🥰

PoowGuzzler

Two Estonians against each other @ Tallinn Open. Amazing!

clearlyPisces

I'm holding my breath... Kanepi, just do it!

Nastypav12

Kaia the Great pulls it out; unbelievable hitting at the end of that set!

clearlyPisces

Indeed! I had flashbacks from 2008 or around that time. Then she would have hit a lot of UEs under pressure.

shegotofftheplane

Muchova 😭 Tallinn is going to love the all-Estonian semi

AncientLyte

Does anyone else use menstennisforum here? GOAT website

Sweetcarolinelove

Tennisforum for women's tennis 🎾

[deleted]

Lol is that site design just ripped from Reddit? It looks almost identical, might as well be a subreddit.

AncientLyte

Mtf has been there since like 2002 or something

shegotofftheplane

Ash Barty retired when she saw Muchova was coming back on tour

monsieurartois

Muchova is a big talent, I hope she can stay uninjured for a while.

monsieurartois

Some really bad calls in Kontaveit's match (from linesmen and umpire), and some more bad calls in Kanepi's match.

icecreamwithketchup

Rune should do what Alcaraz did last year in the off season. Improve cardio, bulk up a little, etc would make his matches a lot easier I feel like. Good win either way

A-dab

Good match between Rune and Ivashka. Was kinda concerned for Rune towards the end but he pulled through

Nastypav12

Incredible hitting from both Karolina and Kaia right now!

Unaatennista

So many missed chances for Rune

Unaatennista

Does anyone know what happened with the Zverev investigation? Is it still ongoing or are they just not going to release their findings publicly?

shegotofftheplane

ATP doesn’t care so they’re not gonna do shit and hoping it just blows over. For anything to actually happen, Olya would have to file charges, which she’s said she doesn’t want to and she’d unfortunately get even more hate from all the Zverev stans and misogynists if she does.

aweap

Good fightback from Muchova! Wins 3 games in a row!

Puzzleheaded_Emu_701

Go, Kaiaaaa

jarzyniowski

https://www.erstebank-open.com/players/ Vienna Line-up is ridiculous this year

Sad_Consideration_49

kaia coming for kalendar grand slam next year

aweap

Dude! Kanepi gonna straight set Kontaveit tomorrow! 😱

Unaatennista

Is Rune’s mom his coach?

Ok_Broccoli_4783

Nope she is his mental trainer

The_Entheogenist

[https://www.reddit.com/r/tennis/comments/vvq5bi/holger\_rune\_has\_hired\_an\_experienced\_mental\_coach/](https://www.reddit.com/r/tennis/comments/vvq5bi/holger_rune_has_hired_an_experienced_mental_coach/)

rubbish_bin030121

This is goooooooooooood!!!!

orangedgoat

I could see Rune being the next Nadal

shegotofftheplane

Well he is going to win at least 15 RGs

Unaatennista

💀😭

rubbish_bin030121

his dream about having more French open than Nadal lol

throwawayanon1252

Ivashka saved all those break points like his life depended on it wowww

cbdgf

Great hold by Ivashka. He likely loses the match if he doesn't hold there

kayjay789

Love him or hate him - Holger Rune is very good at 19. Wins the first set by 6-2 vs. Ivashka.

cbdgf

I'm on the fence with him. He not a bad dude he's just a immature 19 YO which I would feel is true with most 19 YO much less one closing in on making millions of dollars. Hope he continues to get better and get his understandable emotions under control

Sad_Consideration_49

someone pointed out that he's the closest thing to hingis we've got these days (albeit without the titles to back it up lol)

rubbish_bin030121

He is so childish that it makes me can't hate him at this moment lol, maybe I will hate him when he is the same age as kyrgios now

cbdgf

I get it tbh but I give him the benefit of age to mature which I think would be huge for this young talent since he clearly has skills Then again I'm a fan of Nick the Dick so you are more than welcome to disregard my opinion

rubbish_bin030121

HAHAHA, I guess I should say Zverev instead lol

cbdgf

Nah man seeing the difference between Sasha and Nick is scary and I hope no matter where she is Olga Sharypova is living her best life and been able to continue to overcome what Zverev did to her

Muraria

C. Lestienne is quite a cool name in the grids.. like some Celestial being

JohnDavidsBooty

It works out well for me because I wouldn't have been able to watch due to work as it was, but I assume weather in Parma?

cbdgf

I guess so but I can't find any info on it. Shitty because I woke up early to watch Maria

JohnDavidsBooty

ouch :(

cbdgf

It is what it is. Believe it or not my sleep schedule was far worse without tennis that I got back into last year. Used to stay up drinking so tennis has been great for me to go to bed at a normal time

cbdgf

Rune breaks early

Chosen1gup

Hopefully we get Kontanepi

cbdgf

Would be great to see the top 2 Estonian players play late in their home tourney. Huge boost to their tennis program potentially even if it is a 250

Kordas

Lmao, the interviewer in Tallinn is asking such bizarre questions.

aweap

"Why did you have to play 3 sets today?! 😡"

ExcuseYou-What

Anett matches vs the umpires; fave sarcastic aggro of the week 💀

White_Nothing

"You needed three set to win. How come?" lmfao what kind of question is that?

roamiedumbass

“Congratulations? I lost.” “Oh. What happened out there?” *five-second pause* “Are you serious?”

knickgooner10

Why is the interviewer interrogating Kontaveit lol

meimaj

She does it! And a cheeky comment to the ref after lol. "you were terrific" 😂😂😂

OwenRey

woo Anett!

White_Nothing

While Anett won the match, I think Bonaventure would beat her in a wrestling match.

aweap

She came dressed for rugby! 💪

[deleted]

Missed it at 30-0. What happened at Tallinn?

meimaj

Ref called Anett's serve out. Anett challenges, and it's actually in. Makes her replay the point instead of rewarding it to her.

Nastypav12

Unfortunately I believe it's umpire discretion on whether to replay the point or award it.

cbdgf

She was understandably a little pissed after that nonsense

meimaj

That ref really done goofed with calling Anett's serve out then making her replay the point. I get it, but also, grr

Kordas

Horrible umpiring in Tallinn...

WeakDuck8

Double fault on MP. Anett 😞

lostinmoss

Just wanted to mention for anyone that missed it, but Chung's strong comeback continued today. He and Kwon beat 4th seeds Goransson and McLachlan to advance to the semifinals. I'm so glad he's back on tour.

WeakDuck8

TC just switched to the Kontaveit match-why was she so upset after that game just ended? Just curious

monsieurartois

Umpire called a serve out when she should not have, then replayed point instead of giving Anett point (opponent missed the return).

clematisalpina

the umpire called Kontaveits serve out, which Kontaveit challenged. She had to replay it, even though it was called out after the return (return was out)

WeakDuck8

Thanks but I was referring to a point when it was like 4-2 not the last game

AttorneyJumpy2408

A Sinner-Rune semifinal would be tasty.

nicoc9

THANK FUCK that’s over …onto the next 🫣

kungfuhrer666

Never in doubt!!! (Except for when it was) Most Jannik end to a match ever but let's gooo

nicoc9

Never in doubt! (Unless Sinner has to serve… 👀😬)

a_not_lonely_island

He loooovvveeesss to make it harder than it needs to be

caegrc

He is on a mission to shorten our lifespan, it seems.. sigh..

nicoc9

I knew he’d do that! Ugh. Sinnnnerrr :((((

caegrc

Urghh why can't we have it easy, Jannik?!

monsieurartois

Bonaventure looks less like a pro to me, and more like the middle-aged Karens in my town who play tennis at the park.

clearlyPisces

I think it's the shirt that's a bit large and looks random. But she can hit that ball.

JoeshpMR

The women who play on your public courts can hit like that?

monsieurartois

No, I was only referring to her dumpy appearance.

Nastypav12

Looks are deceiving; 12 ITF titles, wins this year over over Danilovic, Podoroska and Rogers.

AttorneyJumpy2408

Jannik DFerev Sinner strikes again

caegrc

😰😰😰

A-dab

Sinner should repent for his serve

nicoc9

Can’t serve shit out…. Is this going to be Sinner’s legacy? Or are these (never ending) growing pains???

nicoc9

Oh boy…

nicoc9

Sinner… remember you’re 0-40 down

nicoc9

Why volley then? 🤔

rubbish_bin030121

Don't worry,VuKic. Now is your best time, sinner serve for the match

Unaatennista

Just hold here now

nicoc9

Great response from Sinner. Now please serve it out. FORZA!

meimaj

Let's go Anett! Have been missing this Anett but she is baaaack!

caegrc

Damn, why is he struggling when I'm watching and cruising when I'm not.

Unaatennista

Feels like a Sinner match now

gothgirl91

jannik making life harder for himself (again for the 90th time in 2022)

PigsLiveOakland

I just realized that Djokovic has worn 4 different kits in his last 4 tournaments. Is that a record?

ALifeAsAGhost

Must be a Lacoste thing, because Meddy always seems to be in a different outfit too

PigsLiveOakland

Not really, his last 4 tourneys: Paris Wimbledon Laver Cup Tel-Aviv French Open kit, Wimbledon whites, Europe kit, normal indoor hard kit. Any player in his position would have at least 3 different kits. (Laver Cup vs Tel Aviv iffy.)

Unaatennista

That sounds like something u/sealdrop would put in a bar graph lol

AttorneyJumpy2408

typical

nicoc9

Here we go…

PigsLiveOakland

So if Sinner wins Sofia, I think he’ll be the only player on the tour to have won the same tournament the last three years in a row.

nicoc9

Much tougher player list this year. I don’t think he’ll win.

a_not_lonely_island

Who do you think will win it then?

nicoc9

Any of the ones left… Including Sinner. But wouldn’t call him the outright favourite with his current serving. All the people left are really really good servers. Sinner’s miles better than all of them, but it all comes down to his serve. And unfortunately, that’s very unstable at the moment. I think it’ll come down to Ivashka, Sinner, Musetti (though Huesler is also playing very very well)… Would love a Sinner v Musetti final.

fingerdumbed

You don’t think he can beat Ivashka or Rune and Musetti or Huesler?

nicoc9

MUCH harder than last year’s people: Gerasimov, Duckworth, Krajinovic, Monfils. Honestly with Sinner’s vulnerable serve, could go either way with any of those people, as they all serve really well (Musetti not as lethal). Can’t call Sinner the outright favourite in any of those matches, apart from maybe Rune, who I don’t see getting past Ivashka. Edit: Rune also serves pretty well. Sinner’s miles better than all of them, but we know his serve has other ideas.

Personal_Formal3424

Is it my impression, or is sinner adding some muscles?

gothgirl91

yeah he's put a little bit on

jbartlettcoys

It would be weird if he didn't, men typically continue broadening until their mid-late 20s and I'd say it's clear his physique is not close to fully developed

caegrc

Missing part of the match after the first 5 games because of commute and Jannik is cruising now? Hallelujah!

caegrc

Too soon, should have kept my mouth shut cause boy just gets broken. Cmon Jannik, finish it off!

nicoc9

Let’s hope Indoor-Hardcourt-Jannik-“6-2”-Sinner is going to make more appearances in the next few weeks.

Personal_Formal3424

Sinner started playing seriously and vukic started losing heart. Let's see if sinner will show a bit of killer instinct, for a change

nicoc9

Too kindhearted this kid. Does he even do bagels? Apart from that one Isner match… But he’s one of the leading breadstick bakers… (I’m greedy for bagels).

roamiedumbass

Handed Isner his worst ever loss. And his second ever bagel.

PigsLiveOakland

Crazy that Isner did better after his 11hr epic than he did against Sin

gothgirl91

who doesn't love a italian breadstick though

nicoc9

😅

The_James91

I still think part of his problem is that he's too nice and he doesn't have that killer instinct to finish people off ruthlessly.

nicoc9

That’s what Bartoli said. Will need to stop being too nice if he wants to win big titles.

nicoc9

Well well… that ended up more straightforward that the first 5 games made it seem… FORZA!

Unaatennista

I always find myself watching tons of Sinner matches during this part of the season

AttorneyJumpy2408

servebot sinner

nicoc9

If only we can have that type of serving … even just 70% of the time. FORZA Jan!

notaswan26

Sinner heard all of you complaining about his serve

caegrc

If that's what it takes to activate servebot Sinner then I'll sign up... to complain

rubbish_bin030121

I am not complain, I just say he has a serve from hell

Unaatennista

Lmao

The_James91

lmao just finished work and came in to see how jannik was doing. fucking hell how hard can it be to fix the bloody serve.

nicoc9

They’re working on the Sampras version. 😬 *IF* he ever nails it, will be beautiful. We can hope…

[deleted]

Rick Gasket murdering someone in a challenger rn

JoeshpMR

Kontaveit seems to really enjoy playing in front of the home crowd. We've seen a lot of players get nervous and play poorly at home tournaments.

knickgooner10

She’s the indoor GOAT

nicoc9

Good hold. FORZA!

caegrc

Wtf is Cahill doing? Arghhhh his serve makes me tear my hair apart

nicoc9

Cahill seems to have made his serve … worse?!… (I know that’s not true, but that’s what it looks/feels like)… the new rocking motion …😵 I know they’re working hard on it - I think trying to copy the Sampras motion, but my god… hopefully this is the “darkest before dawn” part… Because I swear he wasn’t struggling this much on serve last year… even of it was a “technically wrong” serve.

caegrc

Darkest before dawn... This is exactly what I am telling myself too 😥 That he is still adjusting to the changes. Hopefully by AO, something will improve?

rubbish_bin030121

Sinner has a sinner serve

nicoc9

😢

a_not_lonely_island

God, it’s so frustrating watching Sinner serve. His first serve % is so bad and he already has 3 DFs in his first service game

ThrowawayRussianAcc

I hate Sinners serve with a passion

nicoc9

We’ll all have your flair soon if this serve doesn’t evolve asap. 💔

nicoc9

This damn serve… Come on Sinner!

caegrc

Jannik, 3DF in one game. Oh i am getting USO QF nightmare nooooo

pixelkipper

what’s the full list of players who have beaten the big 3?

gothgirl91

Murray, Thiem, Stan, Delpo, Cilic, Roddick, Zverev, Kyrgios, Dimitrov, Nishikori, Ferrero, Ancic, Ljubicic, Isner, Tsitsipas, Simon, Berdych, Tsonga, Melzer, Davydenko, Gonzalez, Goffin, Nalbandian, Soderling, Hewitt, Clement, Malissse, Benneteau + Rublev who was the most recent one.

[deleted]

[удалено]

gothgirl91

the order i put them in except rublev is the last one i know of since he beat djokovic in belgrade

_Crazy_Asian_

I just have a look at the Next Gen Race live ranking, there are 9 Italian in top 20 9!!! I wish the football development can catch up soon too...

ravac

I like this Novak dude, he plays well.

gusfring05

The interaction at the net was so cute

Miss_Medussa

The better hairline won

SerbianMidget

Fuck that was more stressful than a Wimby final

[deleted]

Awww, PTPA bros at the net

What a point to end this match.

Novak Djokovic remains unbeaten against Vasek Pospisil

Pospisil played well
