RubbleWestbrick

He took 3 games to actually show up to the match but since then Nick's been clearly the better player These service games are taking like 30 seconds

jannar24

Karen in his god mode now, like was against Kyrgios

RubbleWestbrick

I honestly thought the Nick tank job was coming after set 1 Guess he's a different player in 2022

SKYE-OPTC

ive heard this a thousand times this year

Thomasboy020

Here before Sakkari loses the first set 1-6 and then wins the match

Alex_Sander077

In which year did the Tokio tournament change to indoors?

Imanothermuser

Think it´s just the roof that it´s closed on the Ariake Coliseum. Last Kyrgios match I watched the roof was open and sirens were blasting. I thought "eh, big city noises, I guess". Little I knew at the time it was because North Korea launching a missile over Japan!

treyfiddy

lol both these guys look like they're tanking their opponent's serves 😂

KiR-

Kyrgios going for the Any% speedrun

MrsTMLJ

Seriously who dresses Nick? Who put those colors together?

bouncyboatload

def himself. no one else would tell him to wear that same ugly ass hat that doesn't fit well and tilts up.

absentsphynx

I froth this hat. He makes it work.

jannar24

It's probably his own idea, he thinks he has the 'drip' then

jannar24

Majchrzak is in a really good form, he had 2 match points against Hüsler in Sofia but couldn't convert, the Swiss won that tournament last week

treyfiddy

looks like indoor hard courts allow for more consistent hitting. less variance due to external elements perhaps.

HTMListerine

Some v good hitting from Majchrzak and Kyrgios here

RubbleWestbrick

I feel like when Nick gets broken he just tanks the set

bouncyboatload

what a huge downgrade from the last match to this poor effort kyrios

jannar24

Majchrzak gets a quick 3-0 lead against Kyrgios as we all expected

rubbish_bin030121

Kyrgios is already better than Naomi, he at least played a full match

valyriaed

Jazda Kamil!!!

treyfiddy

🗣🗣🗣 kygs body language is poor to start.

poopoojoefocker

Ok as someone who just watched the score, was Kecmanovic that good tonight or did Evans do what he always does? I’ve seen him do something similar before

ExcuseYou-What

He was incredible. Evans didn't just casually lose those match points. Kecmanovic *won* them; he started hitting the same way you see Djokovic hit when saving match points. And he was pulling shots out of nowhere and scrambling all around the court to get to everything, and Dan was throwing everything he could as well. It was a genuine battle.

Lenlo123

What a massive choke by Evans. 5-4 40-0 serving for set/match and loses the match. Can’t take anything away from Kecmanovic though

Collecting_Cans

If this match had taken place in Seoul last week, the crowd would've spontaneously combusted due to enthusiasm

ballshallnotlie

Honestly, one of the greatest comebacks in tennis history. Kecmanovic was unreal tonight.

No-Baker717

Miomir “Novak Djokovic” Kecmanovic

strikershiv95

Jesus christ lmao, watching Kecmanovic was orgasmic, absolutely in the fucking zone. Reminded me of his level vs Akcaraz, hopefully get to see more of that from him

NikolaGoatic15

Greatest Serbian player of all time, Miomir Kecmanovic.

ExcuseYou-What

This match has straight up been better than some slam finals we've seen. Take a f\*king bow, gentlemen. What a match. What a fight.

RubbleWestbrick

Dan is just honoring Roger's retirement by not converting match points against a Serbian player

ylifreesh

Evans left the court quite fast

inlettersneversent

MeowmeowGOAT

Throwaway92394292

Legendary.

PlayboiCartiBallsak6

I WAS HERE

bouncyboatload

what a match

Stercules25

This is one of the best sets of tennis I’ve ever watched

PlayboiCartiBallsak6

Regardless of who wins.. I was here

Collecting_Cans

Give them both a trophy. I've seen enough.

matt_annechini

Kecmanovic casually saving straight 11 game points LOL 12th was a charm for Evans

treyfiddy

should've tried a pass there.

vingegaard_windu

What a terrific match. I’m glad I got to watch it Surely, we are headed to a 3rd set breaker

[deleted]

[удалено]

shrekislove123

Did Miomir make a pact with the devil when down 5-4 40-0 in the third set? 🫣

AttorneyJumpy2408

miomir in goat mode is chef's kiss

bouncyboatload

how many match points were saved there?

matt_annechini

Wasn’t it 7?

Throwaway92394292

6

crad4drc

6?

Jeffersons_Mammoth

Djokosmash

vingegaard_windu

Has anyone seen Dan Evans and Daniel Craig in the same room before

strikershiv95

It's like kecmanovic just went full djokovic last game, that was fucking God mode

PlayboiCartiBallsak6

Real life cheat code oh my lord

treyfiddy

KEK is playing insane now

vingegaard_windu

WHAT IS HAPPENING

Jeffersons_Mammoth

Evans must be feeling sick rn

inlettersneversent

Clutchmanović

treyfiddy

what an anticlimactic break point LMAO

matt_annechini

Yea someone really needs to post that whole game after the match. I know it’s an ATP 500 but fucking Christ that’s gotta be one of the most legendary games ever

Collecting_Cans

WHAT AM I WATCHING RIGHT NOW (this match is insane, match of the year candidate)

PlayboiCartiBallsak6

LOL

DanaiDampa

LFG MEOW MEOW

inlettersneversent

meow meow micronation rise up!!!

Throwaway92394292

Wow what a legend

Jeffersons_Mammoth

No fucking way. Miomir saved match point with a tweener and then hit a picture perfect return plum on the line

ExcuseYou-What

we are casually seeing the hands of god work through misha right now

queefing

close match point against kecmanovic challenge (IMPOSSIBLE)

inlettersneversent

Holy shit he just let it go

PlayboiCartiBallsak6

AUUUGGHGHHFHFHFHHGHHHHHHH

treyfiddy

what a tweener to save match point from KEK

Jeffersons_Mammoth

Holy shit Kecmanovic!

PlayboiCartiBallsak6

My ass is clenched

inlettersneversent

BREAK HIM MISHA

ExcuseYou-What

Evo's backhand is not as meek as people think just because he doesn't drive through it every single time. Play with the slice at your discretion. And now he's serving for the match, completely seizing the momentum since 1-4 30-30 with the hell of a pass.

Parisny

Time to shut.the.door, Misha!

vingegaard_windu

Where are all the idiots in here who were saying Kecmanovic was throwing the match during set 2 and that he was gassed

PlayboiCartiBallsak6

I mean… he did seem gassed

vingegaard_windu

He has peaks and valleys in almost every match. We’ve seen him look tired before but then finish strong a number of times. Looking like the same here

PlayboiCartiBallsak6

OK DUDE🤓😂🫵

treyfiddy

Evans really doesn't have a backhand lol

ExcuseYou-What

If Evo wins the match, then this'll be like the Montreal match he played against Tommy Paul. Blown out in the first before confounding the opponent in the next two. He's definitely a changed player since that tournament; the forehand has so much more intent these days. If Misha wins the match, it'll definitely cement this week as already one of his best since Miami. The effort is so clear from his end and he's been attacking and defending so well. Crossing my fingers he can keep bringing this level to more big-point tourneys in the future.

PlayboiCartiBallsak6

It’s over. Third set is gonna be ugly

Tantle18

Miomir’s ability to throw matches when he has every ounce of momentum is unmatched

inlettersneversent

Misha (Miša?) please 🥲😩

PlayboiCartiBallsak6

He seems gassed😞

PlayboiCartiBallsak6

Kec actually going insane right now

vingegaard_windu

Kecmanovic has so much potential. I love watching him on these slow-gritty hard courts. Alcaraz/Kecmanovic in Miami was the match of the year for a while until Alcaraz/Sinner

shegotofftheplane

Did Kecmanovic drop Nalbandian/Nalbandian left him? Haven’t seen him in a hot minute

vingegaard_windu

Very good question. I haven’t heard anything but I’d love to know

shegotofftheplane

Just watched the movie Bros and they have like a 5 second Martina Navratilova reference at the beginning lol

PlayboiCartiBallsak6

That movie was one of the worst things I’ve ever watched

shegotofftheplane

I laughed at some of the self-aware and topical jokes, but the plot line was meh and Billy shouldn’t have starred in it (Matt Bomer or literally anyone less annoying would’ve been my preference)

PlayboiCartiBallsak6

KEC!!!!!!!!!

PlayboiCartiBallsak6

Yayyyy Frances

[deleted]

Lmao Tiafoe with the bodyshot again. He's learning from Tsitsipas.

mblase

The noises Zapata Miralles makes are nuts lol

PlayboiCartiBallsak6

Lmfao

PlayboiCartiBallsak6

Cracked Frances

[deleted]

Wonder if Tiafoe will continue his legendary tiebreaks run Jesus what a point. BZM fighting for his life.

Parisny

BZM fighting for his life! Huge respect for him since that epic 5 setter vs Tommy Paul at USO.

inlettersneversent

who is this new clutch af Zapata Miralles who showed up in the last 10 min??? 😳

[deleted]

Man don't know who runs the /r/tennis discord but some weirdos were pinging @everyone over some random shit just looking for attention. Just left the channel hope they figure shit out.

icecreamwithketchup

The show courts in Tokyo and Ostrava!!! look so much nicer than Astana to me, different shades of blue are a lot better than that sickly green

AncientLyte

How is Maria still in the top 10? The last and only title she won was some clay 250 ages ago. How she didn’t win last weekend is beyond me

Chosen1gup

She’s dropping Moscow SF points and potentially WTA Finals SF points (she’s on the borderline of qualifying) over the next few weeks, so she could drop out soon. Badosa and Kontaveit are dropping ~half their points in the next few weeks so could see lots of movement.

shegotofftheplane

Reaches a lot of semis and finals

Nastypav12

Finals St. Petersburg and Indian Wells; semifinals Doha.

ReadyComplex5706

She made it fairly far in the AO, too. I don't recall exactly but I want to say the quarterfinals.

Nastypav12

R4 lost to Pegula but she beat Tatjana Maria, Queenwen and Kudermetova R1-R3!

ReadyComplex5706

Thanks. At least I was close :)

lostinmoss

Fourth round, lost to Pegula.

monsieurartois

Great day of tennis tomorrow in Ostrava!!! - Sakkari and Muchova each plays a long-shot opponent in good form (Parks and McNally), then Bencic-Krejcikova, Kontaveit-Martincova and Alexandrova-Kasatkina could all be good tough contests.

jsnoodles

Had a nice dream I became friends with Stef and Daniil last night, and subsequently made them both become friends too.

thelastattemptsname

Rybakina got really lucky with the net cord twice at a crucial stage. Sasnovich must be livid but she really let this one go with that double fault and some poor shots that followed when she was serving for the match

Nastypav12

Could have gone either way but Lena served it out nicely and could be a good match for Petra.

thelastattemptsname

We got a great performance from Petra today so it's going to be a bonus if we get another masterclass against Rybakina

EnjoyMyDownvote

I’ve still not fully accepted Roger’s retirement

Kahn-wald

Sasnovich is probably my least favorite player.

mezzo5588

why? she rly doesn't show emotion and she plays fast. It's hard to nitpick with her compared to several, several other players.

Kahn-wald

I dislike chokers.

GGartz

So one person who doesn't like women who show emotion and one who dislikes women who lose matches. Really great set of 'fans'.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Classics22

> for showing too much emotion lmao a real interesting way to frame it.

Kahn-wald

"Lose matches" is pretty different than doing what she did today, playing amazingly and still handing the match to Rybakina after serving for the match at 5-3. I just can't come myself to like or root for these kind of players. I also can't root for players who are constantly playing more than they should. Rybakina, Kvitova, Keys, Haddad Maia are always engaging in long ass matches against inferior players that they should beat in two but they don't because they have zero killer instinct and think they can win whenever they want.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Kahn-wald

That user asked why 🤷 You're the one who got in the conversation.

White_Nothing

Tight match. Good win for Elena.

Districoftrees

Hologic, fix ya damn shit

mezzo5588

I don't think the 5 ppl in the stadium mind lol

Districoftrees

lol true, but I keep thinking the players would notice that thing flickering?

swirkh

Isn't it computer-generated ? I think so, because if you look closely at the replay of one point posted in the separate thread, the Hologic logo is visible on the ground when Iga makes her final shot of the rally in the main camera view, but then they show replay from a different camera and the logo is clearly not there as she makes the shot.

Districoftrees

Ahh that makes sense! Thanks

mezzo5588

Sasnovich rly choked that one away with her double and then 2 unforced errors. WOW. You would think Sas would hit some drop shots as Rybakina moves like shes in a sand pit but nope

White_Nothing

If Elena loses this match I'm gonna fart.

aweap

Are you still holding it in? 🤢

[deleted]

When did Elena learn to play the net so well? Feels like 2 days ago she was horrible at it and today she's been fantastic.

[deleted]

[удалено]

knickgooner10

If I’m ranking them this year I’d go: 1. US Open 2. Australia Open 3. French Open 4. Wimbledon

AncientLyte

Every top player participated in RG. It was a level playing field.

Kahn-wald

Most of RG matches sucked.

knickgooner10

AO had the best mens final, US got to see Alcaraz win a slam. We got Serena and Barty’s final slam tournaments too. FO had the worst finals for the men and womens imo, so one sided.

AncientLyte

LOL people downvoting me... I am just pointing out all the injustices that happened in our sport this year.

cib_vk228

Rybakina can be so frustrating to watch.

morsecodetwopoint0

It is astounding what little effort/movement Rybakina puts in while on the tennis court.

White_Nothing

Badosa/Kvitova match was awesome. Ostrava has had great matches today. Hopefully Rybakina/Sasnovich will be equally as good.

clematisalpina

all matches in Ostrava were great today!!

HopeistheAnthemLITM

You provided only two exclamation points!! Ostrava!!!

clematisalpina

my mistake!!!

thelastattemptsname

Bouchard yesterday and Badosa today definitely gave it their all and lost. Ostrava has definitely lived up to the 3 exclamation points they have at the end of the name

cartofi-prajiti

I don't care about the stats, I was so invested in this match, bravo to both women!

Classics22

That was wild. Damn. Great match by both.

cartofi-prajiti

WHAT A POINT

Just_A_Regular_Mouse

Absolutely bonkers ending. They played insanely well at the end

obi_kennawobi

Both were close to death after that long rally.

[deleted]

What a ridiculous match. I love it.

dunkerpup

Lovely warm hug at the net for Kvitova and Badosa

Classics22

Jesus this match lol

aweap

Man, 6 matchpoints saved by Badosa!!

[deleted]

SEVEN!

JohnnyHaphazardly

Badosa saved 6 match points. She’s stone cold sometimes.

[deleted]

Lol wtf 6 match point saves. Wonder if she can break now.

thelastattemptsname

Badosa hit two unbelievable winners in a row and lost the next 6 points. Kvitova just doing hail marys to convert her match points was only delaying the inevitable

thelastattemptsname

That's a ridiculous run of points ending in stunning winners.

[deleted]

That's one of the best shot I've seen in a while.

cartofi-prajiti

Watching Kvitova hit beautiful return winners gives me so much satisfaction

Classics22

Good lord Kvitova is just catching every line

[deleted]

How many break points not converted is that for Badosa now? Lol this is getting into insane territory. Has to be 0/10 minimum by now right?

inlettersneversent

got it done on the 10th!

[deleted]

Hopefully this opens the floodgates.

inlettersneversent

nine, according to Taylor Townsend on TC

mezzo5588

We can agree no one is winning here yes?

McEnroeHandler

I thought Murray was playing Astana, anyone know why he isn't anymore?

A-dab

*Insert Charles Barkley face* We are going to start a dialogue about Badosa

[deleted]

Once this set finishes let's do this math:(Badosa errors + Kvitova errors)/ Total points played. It's going to be well over 50% I reckon.

missL102781

Ostrava matches have been 🔥 today

Beautiful-Ad-7130

Who is the female commentator on the tennis channel who keeps saying super a thousand times during a match? It's super annoying, do people even use that word anymore? Looks like Kvitova will win this one....

missL102781

Cici Bellis

Nastypav12

TC+ has Pete Odgers solo (not sure about Prime).

fingerdumbed

You have to be trolling: You literally use the word super yourself, m8

Beautiful-Ad-7130

My use of the word super was sarcasm. I've been a tennis fan for years, not a troll. I realize Bellis is new, so it's just constructive criticism for her, and her constant use of "super" makes her sound like she has a limited vocabulary, imo. I want to get back to the Kvitova match, thanks for all the replies!

[deleted]

Kvitova-Badosa is shaping up to be a true monstrosity.

[deleted]

Bruh 5 break points for Badosa and she's converted zero. It's the 3rd game of the match lol.

mertz97

not only that she didnt convert any of it but she wasnt able to stay in play for any of them, even if they were on 2nd serve

lefthill

Lovely deuce battle between the two

PigsLiveOakland

The last two matches Djokovic played as a fourth seed were today’s against Garin, and the US Open semifinal against Federer… in 2009. More than 13 years between the two

AncientLyte

How was he 4th seed? I thought he was always 3 from 2007-2010?
