As a driver we value tips more than a rating. No rating means nothing to use, it makes no difference at all. A tip however makes a difference. Sometimes a $3 makes the difference between a bad trip, and an acceptable trip for the time invested.
Here’s a question for Uber/Lyft drivers.
My ride was reserved five days prior.
Why was I charged about $10 or around double the amount of an immediate request for the same ride?
Why is this? And more importantly, who gets that additional premium? The driver or Uber/Lyft?
So my driver must have loved me as my tip was based on that premium price!
Sounds to me that Uber/Lyft are cutting their drivers out of their fair share of the revenue.
Your driver very much appreciates the tip, as many passengers don’t tip. Yes, we don’t get a fair share, we have to make it up with surge trips, and working both apps, and unfortunately canceling trips if the other app offers us a better trip. I don’t like working this way, but Uber/Lyft give us no choice.
As long as you can afford it, you should always tip your Uber drivers, especially if you live in a small town. They will remember you, and definitely won’t cancel, we’ll those that use both apps.
I do the same thing.
I originally reserved an Uber but found out that Lyft did the same trip for $5 less.
That is capitalism baby! The best imperfect system we have.
I have been metaphorically on both sides of the driver/passenger dynamic.
I have not forgotten.
One must have bootstraps before they can use them to pull themselves up.

You can go to trip history and give him a 5 star and while you are at it, you may add a tip as well.
On good ride experience, drivers expect a great tip too.
I tried that way but couldn’t. I could add more tip, but not able to change the rating.
I tried on both their app and their website.
Are you sure you are talking about Lyft, not Uber?
I saw you mentioned that you were not looking at updating the rating as it is already defaulted to 5 star.
I was just commenting on how the drivers feel about a tip after a great ride.
Thanks for your tip.
get off this sub and go to lyft sub.

The driver occasionally gets a piece of the premium on a reservation trip, but not always. I have no clue on the formula they use.

You're cringey af.
I tipped very well. So no worries. I wanted to confirm my tip with a 5 star rating.
They don't care about ratings much. Rather get a tip.
