I'm all for calling people regarded but out of all the posts we see in this sub I feel his $125 strike price isn't that crazy. Still risky, but not like some of you regards buying calls or puts so far otm you have better chances of winning the power ball
yea buy buying not super far OTM, it buying far enough DTE so he doesnāt get immediately fucked by theta, heās doing better than 99% of people on here buying options
Im with you that the boycott doesnt matter, but bank stocks taught me not to try to catch a falling knife. Im going to wait a bit before going long, especially since retail is pretty shaky rn. Best case scenario: target announces ai cashiers or some bullshit even tho self checkout has been a thing.
In a short term recovery, if they announced they are getting rid of all cashiers and replacing with self checkout. Or a Target Plus program like Amazon Prime. They would have a chance of pulling a win. But I still stand that Target is a shit company in the mean time.
All of brick and mortar retail has been nuking, ignore dumbass that says this is a go woke go broke thing
U will, howveer, go broke buying this dip if u think culture war is why it is selling
Targetās drop in market cap predated the Pride stuff.
The price dropped after earnings and guidance. It had zero to nothing to do with any boycotts.
Any impact from that will not be reflected in earnings till next quarterly report.
Donāt take my word for it. Be sure to take a look at the charts and read the analystsā reports on TGT before you jump in on a weak thesis.
Best of luck.
I think Bud is done for. I was at a Pride event this weekend, and the Bud Lite vendor there was even completely dead, while the other beer truck vendor line was always 7 or 8 people deep. Even LGBT people aren't buying Bud.
The alternative light beers are objectively slightly better anyways, so no reason to go back. It would be different if Bud Light was actually a unique or good productā¦
Valuation for BUD has been on the decline for 5 years and Target has been for over a yr. People act like these brands tanked overnight because the lowest common denominator of conservatives said they would boycott. My wifeās conservative simpleton Uncle ordered a Budweiser when we went out for Easter dinner to show solidarity his against Bud light š. I have a really hard time believing these are people are really doing anything other than fueling clickbait headlines.
I saw a redneck drinking Bud just last weekend and his redneck buddy was ārazzinā him about being trans and his defense was *Aaaaaw naaaw, that thereās BUD not Bud Lite! Itās the Lite one thatāll turn ya gay!*ā
Iām not so convinced BUD or TGT are ādone forā, but there are better things to be investing in IMO.

There is nothing Target sells that cannot be purchased somewhere else. I guve two shits about the political nonsense behind all this but businesses need to learn to stop alienating half the country. It isnt good for business.
Neither half does although it is hard not to upset some people. But doing things as a business you know will upset large groups of people who spend money at your business seems to be a bad business decision.
Maybe Petsmart should take a stance on cats vs dog pets?
IHOP should really shit on the dinner vs breakfast debate about which is most inportant meal of the day.
As i said, the political discussion isnt part of the business decision i think they made. As a publically traded company, they owe it to all shareholders when it comes to decisions like they made.
I own stock in neither and have no vested interest other than sitting on the sidelines and watching it play out.
I may buy some, but I still think it will keep going down until next earnings so the timing would be 1 week before. Also I would check the management before to see if they will double down on pissing people off or let it go
I have former bud light drinker friends that now drink bud red or busch light. They are too dumb to realize its all the same company. Somehow, drinking the red no longer makes them gay. It's an opportunity because the average domestic beer drinking American is an idiot.
isn't everyone just going to target to steal shit since they advertised that people can steal from them with impunity (or dumber, that people should steal from target because reparations)?
i'm pretty sure the sp is rekt not because of the lbgtqwerty bs, but because of massive losses from thefts and believed impending losses from student loan payments resuming... and maybe the lbgtqwerty shit, too.
I think the "go woke, go broke" play is overdone at this point. People get bored of 'boycotting' everything under the sun, and you can't boycott a place you didn't shop at in the first place.
Time to go long!
Champaign? Champaign, IL?
The truly regarded at posting now. We know this is good TA.
The more posts and people thinking TGT and BUD are good plays the more I want to buy puts. Or just stay away.
BUD may have other brands but they really screwed up. I'm not a beer drinker so I could careless. I just know how not to fumble a ball. They fumbled, ducked it, deflated it, buried it, dug it up, lit it on fire. The people I have met that do drink beer and drink bud light, won't touch it even if it's free. Or it's the only thing to drink. Heck, people figured out they have other brands and I've seen people not buying their other brands. I think they have irreversibly burned the brand.
I've said this before and I'll say it again, Target is a shit company. I think they have a better chance of recovery in the short term but long term I want nothing to do with the stock. I see TGT as the next BBBY. More and more people want to shop from home. They have better grocery, clothing, and decorations at other stores and online than from TGT. Big picture they don't innovate. They just duplicate whatever everyone else is doing. Target is nothing special as a company. It's a brand. A brand with not much value.
I think there is a chance to pull a profit off here. Is it worth the risk for me though, no.
I'm also regarded.
Agree. I think a lot of their issue is inflated prices on food making people spend less on all other unnecessary stuff (aka 80% of their products) Also they have had increasing losses due to people stealing stuff (true in many other retail places). While I don't believe target will go back to $250, it will come back up and it's a bargain right now. Shocking that supporting the gay community would have such a negative response, but that's the ignorant country we live in.
Have you ever considered the possibility that companies are trying to cater to liberal customers despite the seemingly huge conservative backlash because the reality of the situation is that consumers are being tapped out, and so these companies are trying to pull in wealthy liberal consumers as quickly as possible?
This isnāt good for the stock price because it means that the marketing campaigns are a symptom of down business, not a cause.

Politics are fundamentally intertwined with making money, and political actions almost always have an impact on financial markets.
Still, we need to make sure that when we have these discussions, we're explicitly calling out the financial impacts of the politics we're discussing. Otherwise, the conversation can very easily veer off into flamewars and boring, unproductive, discussion.
Here's an example of a political comment that doesn't offer any value:
* "I hate this new green policy from the Biden administration. What a fucking idiot"
Now compare it to this:
* "I hate this new green policy from the Biden administration. It threatens the profit margins of oil companies because they will need to expand their OpEx. I have calls on Shell that are going to get decimated at open."
The latter is significantly more interesting and offers a great jumping point into market related discussion.
Put succinctly: If you choose to start or engage in arguments about libtards or Nazis instead of making fun of their bad SPY long then you're in the wrong place and we'll show you the door.
If you're not sure if your content is political, it probably is, and there's probably a better way to post it without making things weird.

Target is a poorly managed business with a shitty supply chain. Of the far-right boycotted businesses I think Disney is the only one with an actual chance of squeezing these nuts. Target and Bud are bad businesses overall in a really stupid marketing scandal

Bro, I live in orange county people here are rich and they go to target all the time
Florida, California or NY?
Why, are you trying to kill me!?
Fun fact, there are 8 orange counties in the US. I looked it up before to make a trivia question
California obviously the other two are shitty š¤£
How do you like to consume farts?
I just really love to fart
Watch out for the chunks!
I feel like that's a problem for everyone else
enjoy
Probably, but I have never been a fan of investing in retail.
Smart
Dollar Tree got hammered and they are usually in the same complex as Target I think the downturn could be longer than you predict
Inb4 shocked pikachu when your call expires worthless

Ok budy, my ITM calls are worthless. If you wanna be safe you can simply buy the stock
" niche marketing Champaign" you were doing good with the fancy words for a second there, bud
Bud Light, the sparkling wine of beers.

Target is Gaiiiiii š» central now
I'll never step foot in there again
They gotš³ļøāšš»merch aimed at toddlers, how dare they.
Meanwhile, the actual criminals are priests and boyscout leaders
Quick question, does anyone go to church anymore? Follow-up, isn't it "Scouts" now?

Bud has always been watered down piss.
This is the real reason LGBTQ+ people don't drink bud
Itās owned by AB InBev bro they have so many brands under their belt that most people would have no idea theyāre basically buying a bud light
Other beer truck vendor was probably still AB InBev
I check the label before I buy anything now to be sure
You're one of the morons who thinks $BUD is bud light aren't you
What? I didn't put any tickers in my post at all.
Im going in with shares on this one. Betting on stock recovery always takes longer than expected. Theta is not my friend.
Agreed here. Would not do options on this one. I see a turn around but it could take a year. At least after the holidays
Conservatives donāt shop at Target? My man, have you ever even visited a US suburb? Every conservative woman I know loves Target.
Agree with the outcome although I disagree with your take on BUD and why itās happening
Protesting a company by giving money to the same company
Spoken like a true regard
But as a boycott, doesn't it achieve the same thing?
Agreed šÆ
I think itās still a bit early for target but I wouldnāt touch bud light with a 10 ft pole.
Post did not age well
10% loss on the first option, second one looking like a -50%. Market concerns with rising consumer debt kind of fuked me š
You hanging in there I just opened position in target but I hate it
I think that as long as things donāt crash, itās a semi-safe play to just bet on value
Literally no one will ever drink bud light again except the 1% of the population that's ghey. Target soon to follow, they are finished

There is nothing Target sells that cannot be purchased somewhere else. I guve two shits about the political nonsense behind all this but businesses need to learn to stop alienating half the country. It isnt good for business.
So which half has been alienated?
The 1/4 on each extreme end of the left and right paradigm.
Iāll never give petsmart another dime if they side with the catsā¦
Accepting gay people exist and should be acknowledged is alienating half the country?

Covid lockdowns taught me that I don't actually like going in a Target to shop.
I have former bud light drinker friends that now drink bud red or busch light. They are too dumb to realize its all the same company. Somehow, drinking the red no longer makes them gay. It's an opportunity because the average domestic beer drinking American is an idiot.

Target just sucks. They did well on the rebrand/refresh, but it slipped back into the same shotty quality shit, but still overpriced.
Target was trending down long before the controversy started. You're reading too much into the noise

TGT & BUD are done! Prime examples of not knowing your consumers. They deserve everything thatās coming to them
This is a prime example of the smallest crowd making the loudest noise. The majority of the world is accepting of other human beings.
