To be completely honest, I think the overall level or this world cup from the big teams has been very dissapointing. I don't need to explain why Germany and Belgium were. Spain, Brazil and Portugal all dissapointing aswell. The Netherlands only played good against the USA and decent against Argentina. We played bad/meh for the rest and never really impressed. England played well but got unlucky they faced France early on. They deserved much more imo. Argentina isn't as good as I'd expected, but Messi has been brilliant for them. I honestly don't find Argentina as good as I'd expect a finalist would be. Only France has been showing their quality throughout this whole tournament imo from all the big countries.

I actually disagree partially they put him in a perfect role off the bench to give the team a different look just were a bit unlucky to get eliminated by the Cinderella team of Morocco. I actually thought Brazil and Portugal were the best two teams left before the quarterfinal matches.
As for Messi yes makes perfect sense I would like to see him leave on a high regardless if he wins or not.
He may still be good enough at 37 for another Copa but that would do nothing for his legacy and at 39 would be too old for another WC. Best to probably play another year in Europe than go to Inter Miami and make Bank while growing the game there.

If Croatia scored while theyāre defending fine disappointing but itās the right strategy. Instead they had one of the biggest tactical blunders Iāve ever seen imo.

They both looked unstoppable in the RD of 16 and looked great in the quarters imo. Brazil should have won by multiple goals over Croatia and Portugal should have easily won over Morocco but were just extremely unlucky.
